Steering box adjustment should only be done with the box centered precisely. Thats the only spot where there should be no play at all. tighten it off the center point and you risk doing damage to the internals as the box tries to pass that center spot, which is now so tight it can bind.
I'm...
Park the car on the ground and level.
Get someone inside to turn the wheel back and forth and then lie on the ground with a flashlight and inspect every joint under the car inc the ball joints.
Making the assumption it MUST be the box alone is a great way to waste money IMHO.
I'm not saying...
Wish I had some Mopar progress to post but nada on that!
My daughter moved about a month ago and my basement is currently getting the makeover I mentioned, so I can soon get my basement garage back open.
Dodge remains in storage across town but will be coming home this spring.
I'm doing a...
I should add just for a laugh...I measured the 454 and compared it to the 318 Poly.
The Poly is almost 2" WIDER!
That would be one impressive looking engine all painted up and in an open hood Roadster!!!
Someone should make clear valve covers for those Polys...just to show off that impressive...
Hey guys...still alive and kickin'! LoL
Things are moving along to make a restart on the Dodge this spring as I will finally have it back home from storage. I've decided to do some remodeling in my basement to get back the inhouse garage I lost to a bedroom for my youngest son.
My daughter...
Comes from guys back in the day using the small, hi-flow mufflers off the Turbocharged Corvair flat 6 due to their lower restriction and good sound.
The so called "Turbo" mufflers are the aftermarkets version of those originals.
I think I will! I have it...it's fairly low mileage from a 67 Belvedere and doesn't even have many oil leaks or anything.
A buddy found a junk Poly engine up in the woods last fall...guess I'll have to get him to show me where it is so I can pull the manifold.
Seeing what you have done...
Thats brilliant! If I go with the Poly I will definately look into doing that.
Cast is tricky to weld.
Any issues, or was it as simple as preheat a bit and weld?
BTW...how do you find the Poly powerwise? Ok...or surprisingly strong?
Never having driven one, I'm on the fence about it...
Though I would do an update on the car just to let people know I STILL intend to finish it...even though I haven't actually worked on it in two years.
Blows me away how time flys by.
Made some changes to the stable that kinda worked against getting to the Dodge in a timely fashion. I HAD a...
Wow! The car looks great!!!
Gotta ask...do you know what code the previous yellow repaint was?
I'm not really into yellows that much but this color has something going on!
I really like it so I had to ask!
Wow! Thank you very much!
I was away from home with my son...went to the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton New Brunswick...and just got home, so I'm only now catching up on the board.
Man, there were some nice B bodies there.
Makes me even more determined to get back to work on the 63.
(But I...
Nope...life, etc still in the way but it will be starting up again this fall...finally.
I have a different project I'm finishing off right now, almost ready for paint actually, and when that comes out I'm going to clear out some dead wood from the project pile.
That will leave me with one...
He's in Sweden...might not be a lot of 2 doors to find over there!
Besides...there have been a LOT of conversions done to 4 doors and its actually a fairly well documented job here on B bodies!
I found a shop site a little while back where the owner seems to do a lot of those conversions...
She lies in wait...life and stupidity have wedged their way in and put a hold on the project for a bit.
I have 3 long term projects on the go...and made a mistake in my planning that tied up my garage and prevented me from getting the Dodge back in time to have it out this summer.
SOMETHING...
Been a while since I've been able to do an update but there are still some pics I can post of work we did at fitzees shop.
Unfortunately the car has been on the backburner for a while...but I'm HOPING I can get back to it soon!
Here is an update on how I did the trunk area while fitzee was...
I WISH I had some updates...
There is a bit more I have pics of that I should put up I guess and I'll try in the next few days.
I WANTED the car back home from storage about a month ago but I've run into a major time eater in the form of a winter 4x4 that I bought, which ended up needing...
