Charger project, fuel injected 440 magnum, .030 over, balanced, 915's port matched, 2.14/1.81 inch int/exh valves, 727 TF. pwr steering, pwr brakes....Whats not to like??

This project started out with a running, driving, licensed 1968 Charger R/T that was my daily driver for several years. Then I decided that it would be a good idea to take it apart and cherry it out...over a decade into it so far. Painting it factory (SS1) Sun Fire Yellow. Since this is real XS number matching Charger I'm going to be gentle with the mods. Mostly bolt on goodies that any Mopar purest wouldn't have a duck fit about when I eventually sell the car. Had to replace the typical areas on these Chargers, trunk floor and extensions, quarters and lower rear valance as well as the front aprons. Floor was remarkably solid only requiring a couple of small patches around the toe boards. Frame rails are solid as well as the torsion bar cross member. Pretty much cancer free now.

In search of more vacuum

Working the problem of border line vacuum for the dual diaphragm booster. My cam shaft is a 110 LSA Bullett, [email protected], 576 lift w/ 1.6 ratio. and at idle I'm pulling just a tick over 17" with the car in park and no load on the engine. As soon as I drop it in gear the vacuum drops to 15.7". So following kern dogs plight with hydro boost I thought I'd try a less technical approach. What I've done is relocated the vacuum port from under the throttle blades and moved it 3/4 of the way down #7 runner like the OEM locations. Then I added a vacuum reservoir to see if I could find a better brake feel. So far it seems to work however I haven't taken the car out for a real-world test but this is showing promise and only kicked the crap outta 50 bucks. Anyone tried this before?

Pressure checked my fuel system yesterday, held 92 psi overnight.
Held better than my compressor. Should be good to go

It was on the car when I bought it, figured it was a OEM piece. I bought a 2in drop base from Mancini that gave me 3/8in more hood clearance, plus I won’t lose any sleep hacking into the new base for the sensors.

I just went on their website. I dont see anything that looks like that. I am looking for a a base exactly like that with a taper into the throttle body (think velocity stack) but with a drop base. If you get a chance could you get me a part number? I've been trying to find something to work with my set for years.

Worked on getting the hood skin reattached to the inner structure. Used 3-M panel bond adhesive. Cured up bitchin, no more rattles or oil canning, hoods solid again :thumbsup:

Getting a chance to stab the new dizzy, got a slight clearance issue with the MP valve cover. Need to trim it up a bit but it’ll work.

Hi, just joined this forum and searched 68 Charger and yours got my immediate attention. Your pics get me excited to do a project, but very hard to find a decent project car for a reasonable price. This car was similar to my 68 I had from 72 to 80. My most favourite car .. in yellow. Hard to find.

Welcome aboard Mopar brother. I appreciate the kind words. It is really tough to find a 68 Charger in any kind of condition that wont break the bank right from the get go... fortunate I was able to hang onto mine for the last 32 yrs.

Thanks brother. The looms are from Mr. Gasket, had to fabricate some bracketry to get them where they are now. I just wanted a hard solution to keep from frying the plug wires.

Installed the 440 Source Fluidampr yesterday. Freakin big sucker compaired to the Direct-Connection balancer that was on there. Looks pretty well made (and in America)..

I have a fondness for the 67's, was my first MoPar. Bought it with the 318 under the hood and a complete 440 in the trunk...
