68 Charger RT

Charger project, fuel injected 440 magnum, .030 over, balanced, 915's port matched, 2.14/1.81 inch int/exh valves, 727 TF. pwr steering, pwr brakes....Whats not to like??

This project started out with a running, driving, licensed 1968 Charger R/T that was my daily driver for several years. Then I decided that it would be a good idea to take it apart and cherry it out...over a decade into it so far. Painting it factory (SS1) Sun Fire Yellow. Since this is real XS number matching Charger I'm going to be gentle with the mods. Mostly bolt on goodies that any Mopar purest wouldn't have a duck fit about when I eventually sell the car. Had to replace the typical areas on these Chargers, trunk floor and extensions, quarters and lower rear valance as well as the front aprons. Floor was remarkably solid only requiring a couple of small patches around the toe boards. Frame rails are solid as well as the torsion bar cross member. Pretty much cancer free now.

Working the problem of border line vacuum for the dual diaphragm booster. My cam shaft is a 110 LSA Bullett, [email protected], 576 lift w/ 1.6 ratio. and at idle I'm pulling just a tick over 17" with the car in park and no load on the engine. As soon as I drop it in gear the vacuum drops to 15.7". So following kern dogs plight with hydro boost I thought I'd try a less technical approach. What I've done is relocated the vacuum port from under the throttle blades and moved it 3/4 of the way down #7 runner like the OEM locations. Then I added a vacuum reservoir to see if I could find a better brake feel. So far it seems to work however I haven't taken the car out for a real-world test but this is showing promise and only kicked the crap outta 50 bucks. Anyone tried this before?

Finally car is all one color.....almost out of paint prison.
Need to finish the tail panel blackout and have a cold one

Just about done with the sound deadener. The radiation treatments I'm going thru makes it hard to get out there and work but I manage to get out everyday and do SOMETHING...
 
Way too much work dose go into these car's. If you think how fast they came off the line and where a finished product. But we do have to do the reverse by taking them apart and fighting the weld's and not damage other parts. Sorry to here what you are going through and figure the car will keep you moving. Doing a grate job. The reward is when you finely put the key in and start it up and drive it down the road.
