‘Re-Born’ B-Body Dana 60

So which ujoint size yoke is that? And what splines on the pinion?
Installed, I have a 29 spline with 7290 series yoke.

I have a new 1350 series pinion yoke also, but the 7290 was already on the gear set. The 7290 has the factory-ish look so I went that route, but I have no idea of what is actually a factory yoke setup for Mopar passenger Dana 60.

Is there any significant difference in the universal & yoke combination strength?

I do like the u-bolts as they just feel beefier vs the delicate 1/4” bolts on the 7290. Yoke pictures is the 1350.

Nice work. I swear i still have an old late 60's Charger Dana 60 stored somewhere in the yard. They work much anymore?

Is the 1.186 the cup size of that yoke, a 1350? The only large mopar yoke I've seen with the tabs on ends are 66/67 1330 u-joint with straps. Is that an after market yoke?

The 1350 yoke is aftermarket purchased with the 1.186” cups, outside tabs, and u-bolts.

The 7290 yoke is ‘Big Mopar’ from what I read with 1.125“ cups, inside locks, and caps & bolts.

Both are same width at 3.625”

2 more trial fitments and finally settled on a .010” backlash With new main bearings from Splicer. Installed new 35 spline, stock width axles from Dr. Diff, with green bearings. Backing plates mounted with gaskets. Time for the gasket & rear cover to seal the deal!

It‘a been a year and finally getting around to wrapping this rear axle up.

- changed out the pinion yoke to a 1350 U-joint and re-adjusted preload shims to ~22in/lbs … then it was 2 hours later :/

-found an original pinion snubber which replaced the repro one

-all new 11” x 2.5” drums and guts (From my research the 4.10 gears only came with10” drums)

-15” x 7” Rally Rims, polished trim rings, and dk. grey center caps.

-Hotchkis Performance Springs 160lb

-QA1 Double Adjustable shocks

-Firm Feel rear sway bar assembly

…AND ready to mount up :))
