Hello!

I am at a standstill in my rebuild due to the dreaded 10x1 3/4 rear drums. My car came with a slant 6 and standard 7.25 rear with BBP. (66' 4 door belvedere) I cannot locate rear drums anywhere for the 1 3/4 brake system and the stock ones are shot. My question is being that I already have the big bolt pattern, what do I need to swap the brakes over to the larger 2.5 width shoes and more readily available drums, or if perhaps im just not looking for the right drum, a replacement for the 1 3/4. Appreciate the help guys!

My 66 also came with the skinny drums and mine were also shot but iirc, I measured mine at 1.5" wide. They were grooved pretty bad but since I have my own lathe, I turned them myself and took a .100" cut and still didn't clean up completely but good enough to use. Yeah, that's well beyond the .060 max that shops won't go past but it worked for me for well over a year until I swapped out that dingy 7 1/4 rear and I did test them with some hard stops. I'm not sure if the backing plates are the same bolt pattern to swap to the wider drums but that's the only option you have or swap the whole rear because I doubt you will be able to find them.
