How would that work out? A big 1071 or even an 871 BDS on a stock 383 would it stay together at 5k rpm? And I mean all stock.

We ran a 6-71 on alcohol. Pretty stock, trw pistons, .557 Mopar purple shaft, stock heads, crank. Ran 5.80@1/8 at 2900lbs. Eventually blew it up. shifted at 5000.

interesting, what would it be like for a street car? light to light racing but nothing more hmmm

I talked to this guy at Capital Dragway during a car show one year. He said it was a high milage, stock engine (I'm thinking a 400) but he has the blowers way under driven. Funny thing, he got a ticket in OC Maryland for impeded vision.

Tell us more about your build...when you say "All Stock" do you mean all original as in never been apart ? or Newly rebuilt just all stock ? and what Compression are you running if its 10:5:1 maybe use a thicker Head gasket to lower your compression, and change out the cam !...also is it a Steel Crank?

Depends on how much boost you actually make and what the CR is, on 10-12 PSI I bet it would hold up fine as long as timing was conservative and you stayed rich. 12 PSI on a 383 with a decent cam (enough for 400 horse NA) and full length headers would probably make around 600 horse. If the tune up is good it should live (doesn't detonate).

There's a guy on Moparts making over 600 HP on a junk yard 2 barrel 383 with a cheap turbo, no intercooler, so really no difference than the blower, just a much cheaper setup. I think he was running around 17 PSI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ux_0zeEG9I

Looks like he finally broke it with 33 lbs of boost.

I have an all stock 383 no idea if has ever been rebuilt, it was super strong last time I ran it with a crappy carb on it. It is a HP 383 motor.

I been running a blower on the street since 1985. Run around 28 degrees total timing and keep the boost down 5-7 lbs it'll go a long time. Jetting about 10% over stock.
