I have a buddy with a '62 Dart and would like to know if the VIN is stamped somewhere else on the body or engine so we can verify that the car is a numbers matching car?

Thanks,
DC

No such thing before 68......at least as far as the motor and trans are concerned. They didn't stamp them till 68, so the closest you can get is using casting/assembly dates.

didn't those cars come with the certi-card on the rad support?

Card was moved from glove box to radiator support in 66.Without it you have nothing. All the vin does is designate 6cyl or V8

If you take the VIN to Chrysler Historical Society they can decode and return build info including engine size and options to you. Then as Runner says getting that engine with the right casting date is about as good as it gets.
