I have a pair of the rear braces that are attached in the trunk to the rear of the 1/4 panels and tie into the trunk floor drop offs. They are from a 64 Polara but

What do these accomplish?

They are welded to the 1/4 panel trunk gutters at the rear of the rear of the panels and support the taillight mounting area.
The bottom of these braces are welded to the tops of the trunk floor drop offs. Look at trunk area pictures on the internet
to get an idea of placement on car.
