Offered here is a 1963 dodge “440” 2 door hard top. This is an original California black plate car that has been off the road since 1978. That is the date of the last tag on the black license plate, too bad I only have found one of the black plates. The last owner had planed on building max wedge clone but due to illness he had to put this project on hold. When I first came across the car it was parked under a tree filled with parts and left with the windows down. Needless to say the cab and trunk floors are shot and will need replacing, there are also a couple of small rust holes about the size of a quarter on the front cowl, besides that this car is really solid.
The last owner had an original aluminum nose max wedge but he wanted something else to drive on the street. He built and installed a new 440ci motor (FROM A 6 PACK ) with 452 heads with a Holley double pumper, 727 Torque Flite and a 8-3/4 sure grip rear end front disc brakes. The interior of the car had the dash restored and painted black and then he got to sick to finish the project. His kids loaded the cab and trunk up with all his spare parts and parked it at the edge of a golf course so it does have its share of golf ball size dings.
I have almost all the parts to complete this car and is almost ready to fire up, all you would need to do is install exhaust manifold, mufflers, starter, alternator, and a few other items and it should be ready to go that are all included in the sale. The car comes with a good used 26” hemi radiator, dual reservoir master, caliper cores, all the lights, headlight trim rings, wiring harness, way too much to list. From what I can tell the only major items that are missing is the door panels and back seat. The body is rock solid, the doors open and close nicely and the windows are perfect.
I got this car as a father and son project, when we first got it we spent a lot of time cleaning it, we repainted the motor and shot a rattle can primer job on it to cover the ugly old paint job. We have since lost interest and moved on to another projects. This car is very close to make run and it would be sad to see it go. This car is far from perfect but it is a great start to a nice Max Wedge clone project. Our loss could be your gain.
