I just recently bought a 1964 Dodge 330 4 door sedan, and I've been trying to find any information I can on it before I get it hauled home. Unfortunately, trying to research what the codes on a '64 tag mean is an exercise in frustration. I can tell it was built in Hamtramck in October of '63, and that it shipped with a V8. Everything past that point is a blur. It's a beige car, but the code on the tag shows an *** instead of the standard XX1. It has an L1T cloth and vinyl tan interior. But that's all I've been able to figure out. If anyone can translate the engine code or option codes for me, I'd really appreciate it.

The first two X's are the exterior paint code. The third X is the upper door frame paint code, that would also be tan.
5 under the A would be the torqueflite transmission.
1 under the F would be the AM radio.
5 under the H would be the heater.
The rest is a little hard to read for me...
I see it has an electric window washer, that would be an option.
I think if you have the standard V8, which would be the '318' then there is no engine code marked on the fender tag.

Wow. Thank you a ton. Sorry about the tag being a bit hard to read, the image got seriously compressed when I uploaded it. The rest of the tag is as follows: M=3 N=8 P=1 and then T=8. Not sure if you'll be able to translate the rest of it, but thank you for what you've done already!

Govier book confirms rarefish
A5 = TorqueFlite
F1 = base AM radio
H5 = heater/defroster
no data in his book for M, N, P codes
QR (blank) = std. engine which could be either the 225 or 318.
T8 = 48 amp battery
And the third X in the paint code. . some plants used a 1 to indicate non-two-tone, others used the paint code itself

Awesome post. I'm trying to locate a Govier PDF version I can purchase. In the interim, I can't find detail on my 64 Polara 500 (Newark, DE Build). Any insight would be appreciated!

There's an "E" to the right of the numbers.
