I've come across a 1964 Dodge and believe it's a Polara from what I've compared online. Has the 318 and push button transmission. Seems like a good deal, as if I don't have enough projects, but curious about a couple things since I'm not familiar with classic Mopar.
Biggest concern is the transmission woln't come out of gear. Said the previous guy moved the buttons around for his "theft deterent" and whatever. IS IT POSSIBLE TO INSTAL A FLOOR SHIFTER IF I CAN'T GET THE BUTTONS WORKING? IS THERE A LEVER ON THE SIDE OF THE TRANY THAT CAN BE MOVED MANUALLY TO MAKE SURE IT'S NOT SHOT?
Will turn over but not run so thinking the carb is gummed up from sitting for a few years. No big deal. Oil and water look pretty good concidering. Says it needs new master cylinder and rebuild the brakes. Shouldn't be too bad. Body is solid and floors look good, all glass is there and trim, and the uphostery looks great.
Thanks for your time.

The shift cable goes straight into the the trans, so there is no lever to mess with down there.

But you could try taking the shifter out of the dash (its not hard to remove) and moving the cable from there, or look to see if the buttons are working right.

I dont know of any aftermarket shifter that will adapt to a pushbutton trans.

Also did u mean "stuck in gear" or stuck in neutral?
Cuz the trans should automaticly go into neutral when you drop the park lever

Thanks for your response! He said stuck in gear. Planning to go there again tonight and check into that a bit more. It's a great deal if the transmission isn't f'd up.
