Hello! Has anyone tried this three point seat belt conversion kit for 64-67 B Body?

Interesting. I remember a ‘68 charger with factory shoulder belts. Couldn’t even move if they were snug. Probably pretty safe within the limits of the car. Seems like a stinker to put in a ‘64 though. I just use the lap belts. Depends where / how you drive. Doesn’t feel terribly risky if I’m driving carefully.

I haven't used them but glad i saw your post. I'm thinking about not installing a roll bar ( which my harness would have attached to) due to the closure of my local track. I'm not a big fan of roll bars in street only cars. Not installing a roll bars brings on the problem of how to have a seat belt system that is better than just a lap belt. I tried looking for install directions to see exactly whats involved but couldn't find any. I would also love to hear from anyone who has installed these belts. BTW Classic Industries has the same belts for $220 list price and often runs discounts.

Keep us updated if you install them, I'd be interested to see where the shoulder belt would attach. Do you have to weld a stud to the upper b pillar? If it were me I'd want head rests too...whiplash would be terrible!

You have to weld a lug to the B-pillar, which on those cars is pretty thin. Check out the Savvy Savoy project that Mopar Action did a few years ago, they installed a 3-point kit.

I've used Andover restraints rear 3pt kits in 2 of my cars, they work good. I would talk to them too. Luckily all my cars have factory mount for front 3pt.

You have to weld a lug to the B-pillar, which on those cars is pretty thin. Check out the Savvy Savoy project that Mopar Action did a few years ago, they installed a 3-point kit.

I believe you mount them in the roof, since its a hardtop car. Couple months ago i got the opportunity to buy a 67 Barracuda, and i looked at three point belt conversions for that as well. On that car you had to remove the roof lining and rivet an attachment plate in the roof.

Im going to look into this further, i feel like i really want three point belts not just for my daughters safety but my own as well. Maybe im getting old.

Edit: I just noticed that they had instructions on the website lol. They are riveted to the roof, i think i will order a set and see how they work.

What about a 4 point harness or similar that would attach to the seat frame? I have thought of something like that for my car (lap belts only) but I haven't investigated it further. You would have to have a strong locking mechanism for the seat back too. My car is a death trap with the lap belts only and the seats that just fall forward in a front end collision. Doesn't stop me driving it though...but if it could be improved it would be worthwhile.

That might be possible also, but this 3 point kit really seems easy so i think i will go with that for now.

The folding seats without locking mechanism is a problem, even with 3 point belts attached to the roof. I think ill have to fabricate something.

Sebring convertibles used a bucket seat with an integral 3 pt belt. Not very pretty but maybe it will give you a few ideas.

The seat belt kit from seatbeltplus has arrived and looks very good! I will install it sometime in the winter since i have other issues to attend to first, the electrival issues and engine upgrades. I will update this thread when the job is done.
