I have a question for you guys. My 1964 Polara 500 has the Metallic Fawn with Pearl Accent interior. There are a few spots that are starting to show some wear and I was wondering if there is any kind of dye I could use to fix these spots. If I go this route I want it to look nice, but I don't know how well you can blend a dye in.

I know there are vendors that sell replacement seat covers, but I don't know if I want to go that route. The interior is original and in very nice shape. As the old saying goes they are only original once. What would you guys do?

You might try and have auto paint store mix a color that matches in a dye compound! Other than that I don't know of any way to cover the stains, only other way is to replace the panels, I don't think they'll match the original! BTW that is a nice original interior!

Controversial reply from me but:

-I would not touch that at all!
I'm unsure of your State that you live in but it could be Sunshine/UV damage.
But, really? Original interior from a 64 that looks that great?
WOW, all I can say is that is a testimony for the great craftsmanship "WE"...America made in the 1960s

I personally would not touch it, perhaps keep it "treated" and cover it when parked in the sunshine.

Beautiful car, Beautiful!
Lucky guy!

its 50 years old
its faded.
you wont mix dye to match.
love the patina .
leave it alone.

I wish my 65 coronet buckets were in that good of shape. I have pearl white interior that is mostly original, but the buckets seats are torn up and the fawn carpet was shredded though so i cut it all out. I have to agree with above comments, that's a great original interior, just maintain it and protect it and leave it as is. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I agree......it would be very difficult to match. Keep it as original as possible and when it bothers you enough redo the interior.
