1964 Steering coupler, manual. Size difference?

Round 2 with this.

Purchased my '64 Sport Fury with the steering box (manual) missing.
I have acquired 2 different manual boxes (2267225 is one of them). I have also purchased another coupler. My original, still on the column, would not slide on to either box. Neither will the one I purchased (off of another '64).
Box input shaft is about 3/4", coupler opening, on both couplers, is 5/8".

Any ideas?

As you have noticed, Manual steering boxes have a bigger spline than power boxes. The year doesn't matter. All the couplers you have are for power boxes. The steering shaft is also longer for manual boxes. If the steering shaft is the right length, then all you need is a manual coupler.
 
Then possibly this Sport Fury had power steering!?

I bought it from the original 82 year old owner back in May. He stated "I ordered it with no other options, other than the 426s, 4 speed, power top, power windows". It could be that his memory was getting like......ours.
No build sheet anywhere (I am the first person to ever have the seats out, and the carpet too)

It would appear then that the second coupler, that was stated to be from a manual steering car, is in fact from a P.S. car?

I couldn't say if the steering shaft is the correct length. It had never been out of the car before and I have nothing to compare it to.
 
I used an adapter in my 64 to put a manual box in a p/s car.

Yes, but I'm sorting through it all.
Still trying to find out if all I need is the correct original '64 manual steering adapter. The 2 that I have are 3" long P.S. adapters.
The part I showed there makes a complete original power steering column mate to a manual box. The ends are for the different splines

I'm trying to find out if my column is a PS or MS one.
14" from the bottom of the seal to the end of the 3" coupler.

Just had a guy in Spokane (I have his power window switches to rebuild) measure one of his manual steering shafts / coupler. The shaft sounds about the same as mine (11" from the column lower seal to the top of the coupler)

@dvw I will get back to you if his measures differently.

@dvw Would your shaft have the coupler on it?

Looking closer at the car it has a single groove lower pulley, and it appears to have never been off the crankshaft.
I'm sure now that the original owner was going to convert to power steering back when the car was parked in 1970, and the only thing he did was replace the coupler with a PS one.
