New to forum and have a question regarding a 65 Belvedere I am looking at buying.
From what I could find I know this about the VIN: R351xxxxxx
v8, belvedere II, lynch road production
the car does not have original motor. From what I can tell the motor was not reflected in the vin in 65.
Also from what I have been able to find all the belvederes made in this plant were convertibles in 65 but this car is a coupe.
any insight anyone could give would be much appreciated

whats your question? I have a lot of 65 belv info.

Based on the info I gave earlier, can I figure out what motor was originally in the car?
Or any indicators that would help in letting me know what exactly I am looking at, I did find that the Detroit plant made the fewest amount of belvederes in 65 (less than 2000)

The tag mounted on the left fender well near the battery! Will give you most of the info you're looking for. Or the build sheet if it's still with the car!

There is no way to know on a 65 what motor came in the car by the VIN. You'll need the fender tag, window sticker, broadcast sheet or IBM card to determine that.
LR built all types of body styles.
I've never seen any documentation that breaks down production by plant. Other than specific models only built at one plant (like fleet cars or convertibles), it's impossible to know how many of what body style were built at a specific plant.

In my case, I have the original reciept from the dealer showing the options which I was also able to confirm with the build sheet I found under the back seats.
Here is some info I have, check it out

This is awesome info. Brings back memories of my first MoPar, a red hardtop 1965 Belvedere II Commando V8 about 40 years ago. I bought it for $125 and sold it for $250 about 3 years later. Body was straight and original, interior was perfect. It ran a Commando V8 (383 4V with dual point distributor & dual exhaust) and a 3-speed manual on the column, along with suregrip 323's. It had the trim down the sides with painted insert (white). I suspect there were very, very few 3-speed on the column cars having the engine my car had. Man, I miss that car and can't even imagine the value it would have today, had I kept it.

Yepper!
