Hey guys, I was curious if any of you had more knowledge on the reverse pattern column shift columns? I received this one in a parts buy from a new buddy(hey Rory!) and was curious what I had.
Is the lens new? old? It looks old to me but who knows. It is broken sadly but both pieces are there. Is the column itself any different from a standard pattern? Any value?
I'm not likely to use it as I'm gonna just build a street/strip car with my 65 bel 1.
Just curious. Thanks in advance for any info.

It looks old to me, though the reproduction shift pattern glass has been in circulation for a fair amount of years now. It could be an original. Either way, it is a nice piece.

The overall steel column jacket itself is standard just like the stock types.

The internals rooster pad has a special shift lock type feature incorporated to allow for precise down shifts during competition. I can't remember how it looks since it's been a while now.

The main shift lever should be entirely chrome plated and not painted as I see that your's is.

Obviously, the steering shaft is a standard manual steering type and length. All the A-990's in '65 were manual steering.

Agree with fmj. One year only piece, someone will need it. Did you get the cables? I got mine in pieces, service manual and half a case of beer and I had it working. Drove it for a year before the engine and trans swap. Sold the column with the trans.

I don’t have the cables.
I’m probably not going to use it.
It’s not going to be a resto or a990 clone.
I’m going to drag race the car a little.
Just have it be a fun street strip car.
I already have a floor shift column in the car.
