Hey Guys,
My dad and I have been restoring the coronet for awhile now. I have a question on the 4 speed. The car was an original 426 wedge 4 speed. When we got it somebody put a 440w/auto in it. We had a 426 wedge built to about 525 HP. The owner still had the 833 so we are going to run that for now. Its in black primer. Whats everyone think of the flat black color. I like it. Dad wants gloss black and chrome of course. By the way, Thats my daughter driving.

Hi Andy,

I think classic cars should always have a period correct color, no modern paint jobs.
Flack black might look mean, ok....but it is absolutely "out" over here in Europe.

Show us some more pics please

Dan

matte black paint or flat black on a nice '65:love4: like that is sacrilegious, trendy, and most people with intelligent decisions of cars would think you are "hiding" something:thinker: with that finish.

nice car, your dad is right,
Sonny

If the body is nice, Dad's right. If it is wavy and has a lot of bondo, you're right. Looking at the picture, it looks like I would side with Dad.

listen to dad...as they say...father knows best.......IMO no real car should ever been in flat black attire...

Flat black is fine for old time hot rods but NOT for classics or muscle cars. Its pretty much a fad and I'm with Dad on this one.

More shine the better on an early B-body! On any B-body actually JMO

only thing that looks good flat black is the charcoal remains of a chevy...but then I may be a bit biased

That's funny!

Thanks guys, like he would let me have a choice anyway.LOL. What size tire is everyone running in the front? I will get a side view soon for you. And yes the body is very straight. Luckily my Father in law is a body technician.
