1965 Dodge Coronet A/FX Super Stock Hemi for sale

If you build it you can drive it LOL

true enough. A friend of mine drives his 41 steel body Willys coupe Gasser daily in the summer. Small block car with a 671 supercharger up top. Its quite a sight to see.

I have always loved Willys coupes. I envy anyone that has one!!!

This car was an A990 WO51 Dodge that was converted to an AWB car. This wasn't an original factory AWB car those cars were not built at Lynch Road, they were built off sight.

However this was the original Kentucky Colonel AFX car that match raced back in late 65 - 66. Cool car. Since it's a A990 car I would say it was a good buy for 55k.

Check the dude out in the lower right of the pic.....he's burning a dog rocket.
The hardtops were taken off the assembly line sans front clip, doors and dash frames, rear deck lids then worked for their wheelbase alterations, then shipped to California for chemical milling of the main bodies panels and rooflines. Once this procedure was done, they were shipped back to Detroit to get retrofitted with the fiberglass pieces and misc. at Amblewagon Corp.
One of these hardtops was designated for Dick Landy and he suggested against chemically dipping his or the the extent that he wanted as little time in the acid drink as possible.
Ever look at one of these cars after a seasons seasoning? They were all mostly distorted from the power, wheelies and drunk attitude down track, but the acid jacuzzi did them in the most.
At least 11-12 lightweight S/S A990 sedans were cannibalized for their engines and transmissions, interior seats, door panels, lightweight carpets, misc parts for these factory ordered AWB cars. What ever happened to those Sedans is beyond most folk, probably sold off or crushed.
The hardtops used the aluminum and or light gauge steel post sedan door window frames to be fitted onto the fiberglass doors in order to fit them with plexiglass fixed window panes and make for an attractive profile look.
The aluminum door hinges were also cannibalized from the A990 cars to be used on the AWB cars.
