1965 plymouth satellite Question

Hi,

I as well am restoring a '65. You better check the lower cowel somehow.... passenger and drivers side, mine was not so good and metal for this area is very hard to come by, hand forming likley.

Mine had the same rust area, water traps under that molding and likley the drip edge is gone as well up a few inches towards the roof. It is all repairable, but as mentioned hand pieces will likely be needed. Hopefully you or somone feels good about tackling that.

Yeah I guess that is an even bigger problem. My dad is the body man and really good at sheet metal work and fab work but he is legally blind so I dont know.

I did find a 65 426 wedge car for sale so I'm waiting more pics and info on that one. The guy said not a lot of rust one on the floor right at the drivers pedeal and I think lower quarters.

For re pop parts try the new Mopar Classic Industries catalogue, they have a sale on right now. Use the code YFX12 at check out for 15% off. Also a wrecking yard near me has lots of old mopar cars... Wildcat mountain auto wrecking in Sandy, OR. They are on the Web. They have helped me with a number of parts. I bought my '65 Sat. without knowing they were on the "difficult to find parts for" list!

Nice Looking '65!

It's ironic that my car started out very close to yours--white w/318 and little rust. I can tell you that one of the most important areas to examine for rust is the front cowl panel--if it's rusted, then water has run through to the interior and rusted the floors. Sherman has replacement cowl panels, quarters, front fender extensions, trunk extensions, etc.--no problem there. The car you're looking at appears to have all its trim--a real plus because it's mostly stainless steel and is really "forgivable" in that you can repair it easily and polish it yourself with jeweler's polish and a bench grinder with polishing wheels. It took me one summer buffing my trim while sitting under a peach tree--but well worth it. This is how your car will look with the max wedge--got my complete set up (intake, linkage, kick-down rod, gaskets, air cleaners, etc.) from A&A Transmission in Indiana--everything fits and works perfectly. Two 600 cfm Edelbrocks (manual choke cable available from Mancini) and it runs beautifully in traffic and at WOT. Interior is available from Legendary and yes, the 318 k-frame works with either SB's or BB's. Good luck with your build!
