Hello, my name is Devin. This is my build thread. Going to use this thread to hold my
thoughts as I continue to do research, and to keep yall updated. If you happen to notice
something I'm going about the wrong way, or happen to have a link to help me out,
feel free to share. Anyways, backstory.

2 years ago I got a 66 charger from my uncle. It sat for 6 years, but I didnt know it had
sat until... A few days later it stopped running. Due to poor time/financial management,
the car has sat for another 2 years. Now that I am in a better situation, the project
begins. Took apart the engine with my niece 2 weeks ago, wiped cam/rods/lifters.
Total newbie, but I want to learn. Below is my nonconcreted plan, subject to change.

My goal for the car is a reliable performance based daily driver. I think thats a thing.
A weekly driver to work that I can have fun with along the way haha. Oh, and that oh so
sweet choppy idle. I have a complete 383 and a 400. I dont have the cashflow to stroke
the 400. I have headers, rpm performance intake, remanufactured 906 heads,
650cfm holly, 650cfm edelbrock.

The plan:

>Figure out the info missing above to get the right compression.

>Have block boiled, checked for damage. $50
>Have crank turned. $110. (0.010-0.060?)
>Have heads checked for warpage/defects. Free.
>Have machinist install cam bearings. $???
>Paint block/oil cylinder walls.
>Check crank journals with tape??????
>Buy everything above.
>Begin reassembly the way I took it apart
>More info to come.

I have a rusted out 75 Camaro that was my graduation present. It was my dad’s first car.
I bought a 92 blazer 4x4. Same wheelbase, but s10 skinnier. Good for bigger tires. The plan was to bring the frame though the floor for a stock ride height.
I let a buddy borrow my s10 and it caught fire going down the highway. He’s ok. Scrapped s10 when I was in a pinch. Realized I didn’t have the time or money for both projects, so I’m in the process of selling all my Camaros to help fund the charger.

The 4x4 Camaro is just another dream that won’t come true haha.
