I located a parted out body with a complete rear end still on it. What rear end will I'm likely to find in this car ? No one knows what engine was in it, and I have to travel just to look at it. So could you guys tell me if all Chargers in 1966 had 8:3/4 rears in them ? I hate to drive thirty miles just to find out it not what I want.

Thanks

Do you know if it was a big block car? Most big block cars had 8:75 rears with an occassional dana 9:75 rear with hemi cars.

Being that this car is 46 years old there could be almost anything in it, but chances are it came with the 8 3/4 rear. See if someone can look underneath and tell you whether or not it has a removeable differential cover

8.75" rear ends were pretty common in 66 B bodies but they are slightly narrower than 68 - 70 B bodies.

Every 1966 B body I've owned and most all but slant 6 (or Hemi) cars I've seen, have an 8 3/4 from the factory. I think they changed in 67 and started putting smaller axles in more 318 cars as standard. I've seen both.

My 66 Belvedere with a poly 318 had the 8 3/4 and a 67 Coronet with a LA 318 that I had had one......

OK thanks guys. The owner of this car is not a car guy, so I'm going to have to drive out and look at it. But with what your saying here, the odds of it being an 8:3/4 looks better.

Is he interested in selling the whole car? I might be interested in the rest as a parts car. Send me a pm if he is and whats left on it. I can also bring an axle if need be, I have a 7 1/4 sitting here under a 66 coronet.

(oh and btw, my 67 273 3 on the tree came with a 8 3/4)

I went out there and it's pretty sad, absolutely every part has been taken off this car. It sat on the ground for who knows how long. The rear was a housing only, even the brake backing plates were gone. Like I said the owner wasn't a car guy.
