1966 Plymouth Satellite with automatic transmission center console question.

Greetings!

This is my first post. I am the proud owner of a 1966 Plymouth Satellite with a 383 and an automatic transmission. The car is in decent shape and actually runs pretty good however the interior is completely out of it. I have most of the parts and for the most part they are in good shape. The center console however is broken at the very front. I have been looking for a replacement on eBay and on other websites but I have a few questions. First one is do other year models work for mine and if so which ones? I know the 67 are very similar to the 66 models. Two can anyone show me a photo of a 1966 Plymouth Satellite center console? I am not sure this console is in fact from a 66. I have seen photos of consoles from a 68 and it looks very close to that. Any information that anyone can provide would be great. I included a photo of my car and my console.

You have a '66 console. Most '67s were the same. The reason for that separate back portion was so the front part could be used on all '66 B-bodies AND C-bodies. The '66 Charger had a longer console, and that rear half bolts onto the front half the same way what I call the console "butt" bolts on yours. There are four screws that hold the butt to the main part of the console. That "butt" is a pain in the *** to find in decent shape. I might have one I'd be willing to sell, I'll look. You are going to have to paint your console, anyway, so another "butt" of a different color shouldn't be a big issue.

The '68 - '70 consoles (and a few from '67) are one piece front to back, and are plastic. The '66 consoles are fiberglass, and considerably stockier and heavier. The butt is plastic, however, and prone to breakage. They are physically the same length and swap between all years 1966 - 1970 on both "B" and "C" bodies. The "C"s in '70 have a different top portion where your console glove box lid is; but again, they all swap.

Judging by your pics it's hard to tell where the break is and how bad it is but, I can repair that!

partick66 gave you some good information on consoles. I have an extra '66 rear section that I am currently repairing. If it comes out ok I'll want to sell it. Let me know if you're interested.

Hey thank you very much for the information. I am not looking to make a perfect like it was from the factory car, I just want it to look nice. This opens up my options for replacing that center console.

I repaired the center console on my 69 Dart GT. I used Popsicle sticks/tongue depressors epoxied to the under side for support, then squared out the break to make a patch from another piece of plastic, epoxied that in and did the bodywork with some bondo. I used an autobody (don't remember the brand) splatter/texture paint and then satin black spray paint. You would never know it was broken and it's held up for quite a few years now.

Are all parts there? Looks like there's 2 pieces missing or something as the holes are different shaped? If parts are missing, it becomes a lot more time consuming to repair and look real good, but can be done. Luckily it's black and on interior repairs, it's the best color to hide the errors in the repair, not like the outside body of a car.
