Rebuilt the steering box on a 1966 Sport Fury. Reinstalled filled with fluid and when cranked the steering goes all the way left and locks.

Anyone got any ideas?

Your valve on top (can't remember the name of it) needs to be centered. It's held down with two 1/2" hex head screws and you need to move it backwards or forwards.

Can the valve be seen when you take the screws out?
Position it manually and replace screws?

Loosen the screws and move the top that the screws hold down....don't take it off.....just slide it. It doesn't take much movement.

Thanks Cranky.

When I was in my mid 20's some guy at work told me I looked like him but I didn't see it though lol. He is one of my favorite actors....plus think he's one of the few who didn't go nuts because of his fame.

Btw, let us know how it goes.....first time I ran across this was in the mid 70's and a buddy at the auto parts store knew about the positioning of that slide valve or otherwise, probably would have junked the car a buddy and I was working on.
