1967 Coronet 500

Great project car! thanks for the pictures..

Not worried at all about the numbers matching. What I'm looking for is a car that I can do most of the work on just for fun and that will turn out as a decent driver.

1800 smackers aint the price level where I am worried about numbers matchin this, how many of what that, how many did they make blah blah blah.....bullshit bullshit............at 1800 bucks, you need to be worried about solid frame rails, solid torsion bar mounts, how much sheet metal work the car needs, how much mechanical it needs, what it will take to make it a good car. Cause unless somebody's real STUPID, you ain't gonna get a numbers matchin low production car for that kinda money. So, rather than try to find out pointless BS, you should concern yourself with more important things. JMHO.

Second one sounds like a much better deal.

YY1 I tend to find 66 parts way more often then 67...go figure. I still have a 66 pass fender but its not rust free....ill make a deal i want it gone.

I found yet another one that might be worth looking at. A 440 model with no engine pictures look pretty good $2250

A 383 4 speed 66 500 is sorta rare, but the body on that last one looks quite a bit better.

Depends on what you want and consider valuable.

I passed on several Road Runners before I bought my Satellite.
The RRs all needed quarters, and had other issues.
The Sat was half the price, has a nearly perfect body, and runs almost as good as a top (with working a/c).

However, I alsready had my 66 383 car (which is somewhat rare at less than 1700 produced), so I was looking for more of a driver than a project and a "factory performance" model was not as high on the list.

What is the original engine in that 440?

Notice the lower trim is missing.
That means there's at least enough body work to fill in those holes.

The ad didn't say and I haven't contacted them yet (been real busy the last few days). If it was a 318, is it a lot of trouble dropping in a 383/440? A 340/360 would drop right in. I'm sure that it has been done, but maybe a modern hemi might be in order. What kind of issues would I encounter doing that?

I always ask for the first 5 (or 7) digits of the VIN.

IIRC, about 30-40,000+ 318 440 trim models were made. (boy is explaining that 318/440 thing to non- mopar guys DIFFICULT!)

(That 4 speed 383 500 model seems to be one of less than 766)

B or RB (383-400-440) will drop in with the proper mounts.
No K-frame difference between BB and SB in these years.

Newer motors- a bit more complex, MANY threads regarding that.

In 67, the 440 model had trim on the lower body line similar to that 500 model, just not as wide.
I was always pulling leaves out of mine. Because it's over the "ledge" of the body line, it seemed to trap many more leaves than the 66 style molding that runs about mid way on the panels.

There were holes for the clips, so they have been filled in on that 440 model you posted.

Thanks, I thought that it was just a difference in motor mounts. I can only assume that an aftermarket K member is available to put a new hemi in the older cars. As I said, I've been away from Mopars since the middle 70's. Well, life just got in the way (family, school, work), now that I am an empty nester and finally financially capable to get back into them. I've got a Corvette now too (2001). Looking for something from my growing up years.

Me too. I had a 66 Coronet 440, poly 318, A/C, P/W car in the mid 80's.

Was "out" of the "hobby" during most of the 90's and 00's, building career, etc

Now back in pretty hard core.

This 383 car is my 4th 66/67.
