I will be installing a 1967 gtx flip top gas cap on 1966 satellite
I don't have this bracket.
Is it mandatory or can I bypass it ???

I don't see a way around not having it.
 
It's not too bad if you have all the parts.

megaparts is one of the few places that sells individual parts.
