1968 coronet rt value?

Wouldn't pay $40K. If you can get it for under $35K I think you would be getting a fair deal, but Lower $30K would be even better deal for you. Also, depends on why you are buying. If you are buying to flip then you probably need lower 30s. If it's a car you've been wanting and looking for then a little higher to me would be fair.

I think ac would have to be on the fender tag, wouldn't it?
So is it numbers matching?

A/c would not show on the fender tag but would show on the build sheet. Numbers match on everything but trans

Here's a '68 Charger with ac fender tag that shows S-1 as ac and also a '68 RR 4 speed with ac on the tag.

I'm sure it's a factory a/c car & the automatic was swapped to a 4 speed somewhere down the line. The white top looks much better than the (original) green top. Some of the a/c lines are not correct as evidence of the a/c line clip next to the fender tag in one of your pictures. Here's an original a/c equipped '68 R/T Charger....

Overall, I like it, even if it does have a green interior. If he's asking 40 large, I think you should wave 35 cash in his face & go from there. Keep us informed & good luck.

Does the dash have the a/c vents on each side of dash frame? But even with a/c added I would jump on this purchase at 40k if this is a car you are looking for. This car is generally being sold for 10-15k as a rusty non running project car.

this car, although a running driving car needs a complete restoration. The lacquer paint is all cracked with some rust bubbles in the typical spots for a convertible. I think the car will sell for 30ish

But the tag says it's a 4 speed car.

So it does...

AXLE: 3.54/3.55 Rear Axle Ratio (Dana60 or 8 3/4), Sure Grip
INTERIOR: Sport Trim Grade, Vinyl Bucket Seats. Green Interior.
PAINT: Monotone Racing Green Metallic Paint.
OTHER: Unknown Color Upper Door Frame Color.

MOLDINGS:
19: Wide Sill Mouldings
20: Unknown Option
78: Wheel Lip Mouldings

ABC OPTIONS:
A1: 26in Radiator
D9: Front Disk Brakes
H1: Power Brakes

abc OPTIONS:
b4: Bucket Seats

Seeing that some of the a/c stuff is not correct for the year, I would now suspect that the a/c was added.

Its interesting for sure. Adding A/C by removing the dash and replacing the firewall just makes my head spin but I guess if your going to do it may as well do it right!

The firewall may or may not have been replaced and if someone had a template, all you have to do is cut out the holes. With the exception of making up a new fender tag, someone went through an awful lot of work to make it look factory. Who knows when it was done and the jury is out as to whether this was done for nefarious reasons or not, however, a 440 4-speed R/T convertible is still a very desirable car. If I was me, I'd leave the a/c but make it look correct for a 68 car.

Does the owner have the build sheet?

i found a few pictures of original 68 b bodies showing the a\c lines
