Hi guys, I am about done with this thing. I"m not having fun anymore. I can't seem to get it to drive right no matter what I do, so I think it is time to move on.

It is a 1968 Satellite, with a 1978 440, 727, 3.23 Sure Grip rear, power drum brakes, and power steering.

The car was way nicer but the day before Thanksgiving a truck ran me off the road, so as you can see there was some minimal body damage on the passenger side, and I had to replace the windshield / gasket. I had to pull the engine and replace the oil pan, so as you can, I completely detailed the engine compartment. My plan was to repaint the car in a kind of Sox and Martin tribute, so that is why the engine compartment is white.

I hate the way this thing handles...the only things I haven't replaced up front are the torsion bars and the lower control arms at this point, and I am getting really frustrated.

It needs some more interior work, but the front buckets and rear seat are there.

The body is really sound, with solid floors, a brand new trunk pan, etc.

I'll either sell it or trade it for something more together and reliable. Maybe an A body? Something with a small block? I'm into GMs and Fords too...I'd trade this for a 67 or 68 Mustang coupe in a heartbeat. Or a clean 70s Firebird or Camaro.

Cash wise, I honestly don't know...it's wicked solid, but I know it needs some more work...maybe 8k?

The car is in Port Charlotte, Florida, and it does start, run and drive. I just cannot stand the manner in which it does those things.

Would you be interested in trading for a 1987 dodge d100 with a .040 over 360 4barrel engine? 8 3/4 diff and mickey thompsons?

If we were cloesr together id have you look at my 67 malibu

The 67 Malibu I would be all about looking at. But yeah, we aren't exactly neighbors :)

The Dodge truck isn't my thing...I really don't want anything newer than an 81 Z/28, and even that is pushing things...thank you though!

what kinda price are you looking at for the car, that is really my dream car. how about 4 grand? I know its a low ball but all I can afford.

Dope car man...Car looks mean as hell.

Hey Sawdoff i got a 67 malibu too (**hint hint** post pics sawdoff :hello2:).

It sucks when you can get the car to handle the way you want...and you DO seam like a mechanically inclinded....So im wondering if sorting the problems out might be an easier route to go. OUR MARKET (regular dudes not the Barrett-Jackson market)...sucks right now.

When you say the car aint handling the way you want it to...could you describe what you mean it a little more in detail. Understeer? Oversteer? Shimmy at speed? Car going sideways on laucnh? :steering:

Did the car come 440/727 from birth or did you transplant? I've diagnoised a host of handling issues that have had some *WIERDDDDD* causes like out of round rims, body/engine torquing, swaping out shocks for stiffer ones, etc etc...I'd be curious to know...you say you didnt replace the lowers so im assuming you repacled the uppers arms as a unit or upper ball joints and rehabbed the uppers maybe? Did you swap out the lower ball joints as well?

I guess my point is...stick with it man. You'll get it solved. Let us know more about the problems your having with the handling and we'll throw out ideas. Here's a cool article i found back when

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/howto/mopp_0701_1968_plymouth_gtx_suspension/index.html

May point you in the direction of what you may have overlooked (hint hint torsion bars lol) Maybe a sway bar kit may be in your future.

P.S. Here's a pic of my *knock around* 67 Sawdoff...I got kiddies so four door pimpin :headbang:

The car is not for sale anymore. Numerous people have made incredibly insulting offers and have pissed me off. I also soled the drivability issues and the car runs like a dream again. I could kick myself for being so rash, but I'm glad I didn't make an even biger mistake by actually selling it.

That was a low price to begin with! What were the issues?

Negative caster due to a bent lower control arm, and drivability issues that turned out to be timing (I admit sheepishly). I was just in a bad place mentally with the car, and very frustrated. I was at the point where I would have traded it in a second for something with an interior, even it were a lesser vehicle. But I had people make serious offers of as low as 6k, and I could slap someone for even trying that. the 8k I put in the original post was stupid of me...like, crackhead, everything must go, stupid.

I think most people here can relate to finding themselves suddenly not enjoying their car anymore...when it feels like it went from being a labor of love to a money pit. It isn't a good place to be.
