Nice to see you're saving it and thanks for the back story! As far as the fender tag all you have to do is take it off & take a picture of the back side then flip the image so that you can read it. That makes it easier to read.

I bet the build sheet is still in there, has to be based on the info you've provided. Back in the day no one really looked for build sheets but today we're all looking for documentation. Check behind the back seat top. Now the real question is when you find it will it be for your car.

Thats what I've heard that they all got mixed up on the assembly line. SMH.

There is a FB page for 500 owners only. There is a gentleman who has the most complete info on 500's of anyone and he can answer questions most accurately for you. If you can't find it and request joining, let me know (not my page, just a subscriber). Black with red interior is definitely lower production. The most common colors known are R4 and F8. I'm intrigued by the manual brakes (also manual steering?). That is very unusual for a Charger 500.

Here's a question for everyone. I am seeing and hearing mixed thoughts on what the going value is on 69 charger 500s. I have some ppl saying they are not any more valuable than a 69 charger r/t because thats all that it is and then I have ppl that say that 500s with solid bones that need work still could fetch anywhere from $10,000-$20,000. Personally it doesn't change my perspective as I'm never planning on getting rid of this car once its done but the value of these does peak my curiosity on why I see such a wide range of numbers. I've seen a couple in great condition for sale for $30,000 and this just doesn't make sense to me.

Value is tough to say all depends on condition, originality, options and rarity. Also, all depends on what someone will pay for it. All of the auctions (Barrett Jackson, Mecum...) have driven costs thru the roof.

I totally understand that. Especially with the 500s (Hemi vs 440, auto vs manuel, ac, color combo, floor shifter, ect) but there still has to be some kind of average value to base a rebuild off of.

Several years ago when I was paying more attention to Charger prices, a 500 was bringing 20K-30K more than an R/T. And less than a Daytona. @Richard Cranium may be in tune with the current values of them.

Thats what I would think. Then some of these 500s I am seeing for sale around the $30,000 mark I must be missing something from.

500's fly under the radar, and I think a lot of people would rather have an RT with the hidden headlights and the flying buttress roof. Values right now seem to be all over the place. I have not seen a 500 sell publically for quite awhile. A restored F8 440 car brought only $65k about a year ago, which I thought was a little low.

...... but I'd say if you are finding decent 500's for 30k, buy them all and pick another one up for me.

I think you are talking about the same F8 one I came across while looking.

I remember that $65k car. It was F8 if I’m not mistaken. Also might have been Rick Hendrick’s.
