1969 Charger bodywork.

Amd makes verys nice replacement panels. I made the switch to those a while back and have saved a lot of grief since. There will still be a little nip and tuck here and there but thats pretty normal. Especially considering that they are new panels being transplanted to a 40 plus year old car. But compared to all of the rest of the reproductions , amd is the the closest to original.

I dont get the stigma of something being made overseas or mexico making the final product lesser. Amd is proof of debunking that case. These cars were imperfect when the were new to begin with.

We don't get much in the way of products made in Mexico over here, but plenty of made in China and it's pretty much all poorly made, products that often have to be discarded due to breakage, malfunction, etc.
It's not an unfair stigma, manufacturing in many of those Asian countries (as well as in countries south of USA) leaves a lot to be desired, unlike products made in USA, England, Germany, Australia, Italy, etc., which are of very good or much better quality.

The only complaint I have with the "imported" stuff is the actual steel used is recycled. Not virgin. It's not the same quality, and I do have concerns that over the years the contaminants in the base metal will come through. Anybody that really complains about foreign made stuff needs to get off their cell phones, lap tops, 80% or more of their cars, their TVs, and pretty much stop shopping at any big box or online stores. That is the ONLY way "US made" will ever make a solid comeback. We all want the cheapest everything, and buy it lock stock and barrel. Globalization is the result.

It took politicians and rich people to allow foreign goods into our countries, they could turn things around very quickly, but money talks. Basic necessities like clothing one cannot go without, can't remember last time I saw locally made clothes in the shops over here, and people won't go naked or wear rags just to make a statement. Like many things in life, this situation has been imposed on us by those in power.

AMD is junk that needs to be cobbed together..lol
the metal used in it is equal to tin foil comparing it to oem
it is thicker then oem and weaker then oem (it takes much less effort to cut)
you might know that if you ever worked with it.
i kinda doubt it going from your comments..

Lol.Your doubts are incorrect. Ive worked with plenty of aftermarket body panels. Reproductions may have a horrible fit in some cases (not amd) theyre heavier in gauge than the originals . The truth is that these cars are 50 plus years old and have been stressed and tweaked that even with nos parts you may have a troublesome fit.
Im not one who holds assembly practices from any country including the Usa to the highest standards when these vehicles were rotting in under 10 years from when they were made.

Amd is junk that needs to be cobbled together? Hardly. If you think youre Never going to cut , bend, grind and fit an entire quarter panel even if Nos on an aged car such as these then you haven't done enough bodywork in your lifetime. I wouldnt be thrilled to see your work if you didnt do a thorough fitting before welding, whatever brand you used.

i disagree
some of their parts are pure garbage and should never be sold to the public
like the 68-70 b body outer wheel houses that are based off a 4 door wheelhouse
(i had to beat them up really bad before they would even admit it! liars!)
their lack of research turned into a pos part that should of never reached market
it will NEVER fit unless it is cobbed and
THEY DON'T CARE AND WILL STILL SELL IT
because enough people accept crap!
they reworked it to over 4 different versions
btw all 4 versions suck
the last one just has hogged out alignment holes lol

if the garbage was half as good as advertised
i would have no complaints..
to me it is over priced parts of last resort.

restoring something means to me something that resembles original
AMD is far from that.
you must have lower standards then i do
if you think AMD is that good.
i have a brand new AMD trunk gutter that will go in the trash.
looks nothing like a original
nobody will buy it even if i give it away at less then half price

i have never had the fitting issues using nos or used
compared to AMD it is not even close.
when i install a panel,
i don't want to have to cut, grind, splice or have to add on material
that is cobbing in my book.

Speak for yourself, I'm not everyone and I look for made in the USA in just about everything I buy and find it more than you'd believe..... hell I bought an American made paintbrush to paint my bathroom.

Simple.. more often than not "made in China" translates into "piece of crap"! I am so sick of completely wearing out a tool after 20 years of use to go out and buy a Chinese replacement that fails to do the job on day 1. I'm tired of my kids toys breaking the day after Christmas and I'm really tired of all their damn wheels that can't hold air!! Now there are respectable companies that ship their operations overseas that still make decent stuff. Point is I've bought so much junk in my youth that all turned out to be Chinese that I'm just done!

Thats understable. I hear your grief ,the majority of this stuff indeed does not fit and has to be in a lot of cases seriously tweeked to fit. I just got used to it. Its a speck of dirt in the world compared to the work that i put into these cars.

I wasn't referring to AMD, I was very pleased with my panels.

Having used good NOS, scavenged parts off parts cars, and hand made panels, I agree ALL aftermarket parts are a compromise. They're the same gage as the factory parts, but they are stamped from poorer steel in poorer dies and the whole process yields a lower quality when compared to a good NOS product. But... Much of thet NOS stuff nowadays is still around because back in the day it was refused. And a panel carefully removed from a parts car will STILL need to be fit to the car you're working on. Saying AMD is a joke is hysterical. WTF do you do for metal? None of the makers are perfect and if you used them all to any extent you.d know that. So either you did one car that you got real lucky on with one manufacturer's parts, or your talking out your *** because AMD disagrees with your conslusions. Sorry there's no other explanation.

hysterical?? lol
I do the exact same damn thing i did before the AMD junk came to market! lol
i got tired of wasting my time trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with cobbed up results!
I would rather invest my time in to harvesting and prepping a good used part
that will FIT and resemble original ,then wasting my time with AMD false advertised junk!
they are parts of last resort in my book..
i guess what it boils down to is
my standards are a little higher then most others are.
here is wtf i do..
