Recently had someone reach out to me after seeing the hood signals that I made with my 3d printer.

1969 chargers do not have illuminated side markers like 68 , 70 ext. The client came to me with brain stormed idea of how to make an adaptor for the original lens .

After discussion back for, I was mailed an original housing and lens in order to take my measurements and test fit.

Included are a few pictures of adaptors prototype printed in green. The final pieces will be printed in white.

In our discussion they mentioned how it was difficult to hold the housing in place in order to drill the hole in the back of housing to allow for the lights. We'll I was able to help with that as well. Printed a jig that would be able to be mounted in a drill press an not scratch the paint on a finished piece!

If anyone else has some ideas they want to make reality , feel free to message me !

Now do the 70 charger front fender and you will be set for life. You do some nice work

I like them, i’m way off on getting mine done. Would you use 1968 or 1970 Charger wiring? I wonder if you can tap in to the 1969 Charger wiring. PM me when you have a price.

I think the easiest way would be to just tap into the existing wiring. Another member of a face book group posted his own version using led light strip ( don't know any real details of the his mod) but he did say he wired them into the turn signals as well as running lights.

Thought that was a great idea? From the side you have no idea if someone is turning in these big cars !

That is awesome. That is one of the things I hate most about 69's is just a lame reflector. If you make up some sets. I would be interested in a set of for just in case I do find another 69 someday.

Count me in for a set for all four corners as well!

Here are pictures comparing an LED bulb and incendescent light .

The incendescent is definitely my choice for this situation . The led is more white and the light is more central compared to the regular style bulb

I am a little lost on how you would do this with a single element bulb and 2 wires one B+ and the other ground? Would someone be able to enlighten me?

I was thinking the same thing when i started to think about the wiring for a dual purpose unit. I think they must of used led light strip for each light, signal and driving .

With my setup I belive you can only have one or the other. But someone may know a work around? .

Would it be something along these lines? And would it ground through the unlit filament of the runing light brake/turn bulb?

With how this is drawn how would it work for the side marker if the running lights are on and then the turn signal is used? Would the side marker turn off when the turn signal is lit up due to power being on both sides of the side marker (opposite flashing pattern)?

Yeah that looks like grounded through the low beams and powered through the parking/signal light. But powered from the parking light instead of turn if I am reading it right?

My understanding is the fed law for ‘68-‘69 was side marker lights or reflectors. On January 1, 1970, both were required.
