I had a new exhaust put on my 1969 Coronet R/T as the old system was falling apart from rust. I put on TTI 3" inch exhaust and needed new tips. I was wondering if these 2-1/2" tips are reproduction or original and if anyone knows how to tell?

Thanks for your time,

Hard to tell for sure from your photos, but it looks like they are originals.

The "Z" bracket used to hang them should go INSIDE through a slot in the top of the tip. Also, you should find a "drain hole" in the bottom near the very back of the tip before it necks down to fit the exhaust pipe. Another difference is the slightly curved sides of the tip, they are NOT flat and perfectly square if they are originals on the sides.

I haven't found a reproduction yet that is exactly like the originals. Some that are close but not quite perfect.

Hope this helps some. :imho:

There is a drain hole in the bottom near the end and a slot where the hanger enters into the tip that is welded on the exhaust tip side. The tip is curved on the sides and flat on the top and bottom. I am not sure if I should keep these or sell them to a good home. What do you think they would be worth?

They are quite rusty but if they don't have holes rusted through, they may be usable for cores to be replated for an OE type restoration at some point in time. Don't have a guess at what they are worth other than "not much" in their current condition. I've got a pair like that too!
