1969 Dodge Coronet Value

Looking at pursuing a 1969 Dodge Coronet RT. The car I'm interested in is a real RT. 440, 4 speed, non console car, 8 3/4 rear end, not sure on the gearing, and they didn't know at the shop. They say they car is numbers matching and has an intact build sheet as well. Here's the rest of the scoop, the rust repair is complete. There will be some body work and blocking to do before paint. The shop that owned it looked inside the engine and all looks good, simple rebuild is needed, although motor isn't running and hasn't run since the shop that owns it has had it.Trans should be good to go. The suspension was taken off the car and cleaned up then put back on. Needs a new clutch assembly. Gaps could use a bit of fine tuning. Glass looks good, as does the rubber, new chrome bumpers and emblems in good shape. the interior is done, but the dash has a cheap dash pad on, so dash could use a little work as well. All wire harnesses look good. gauges look good as well, although not sure if they work since the car is not running. The car was originally Y4 classic Gold Metallic with a Black Vinyl top, stripe delete. The shop says the car is basically 85% complete. Anyway, given the description I have provided, what do you think would be a good price to pay for it. I know I'm asking a difficult question particularly without pics, but any estimation would be greatly appreciated. He asked me to make an offer, any suggestions?

So they say 15% is missing... 1969 R/T specific parts could add up quickly. If parts like these are missing like the Dana Rear and maybe an Air Grabber hood, A/G air cleaner, bucket seats, 4 speed console could be considered 15% and cost 5-7k to find nice originals to replace. Make sure you get a list of what's missing...

I just recently went through this with a 69 superbee. Posted pictures on here and had a qualified person look at the car. With the help of everyone on this site I avoided a $30000 mistake.

All post are true and to be aware of. You just have to know what your looking at and evaluate things yourself based on what you see and know, not hear. Words mean nothing. From anyone. A car that comes with an original Dana 60 rear end needs to come with one being sold. If he’s selling it as an R/T at a RT price. Especially after he told you, he has one.
Makes me believe it is an original RT car. But, they stripped all of the valuable RT parts from it. Planning to sell those parts separately as they will fetch a good amount of money or they’ll put that rear end on another car after they sell your car. But, people can speculate all day. That means nothing too. It might be a fair deal. It’s up to you to evaluate that by seeing it and adding all circumstances up yourself. Without at least a few pics. No one here can help you with an honest estimate. It takes at least a few descent pics. And that only gets a rough estimate started. Then you would have to evaluate that estimate being higher or lower based on what you find in person.
Make sure you match numbers yourself. Easy to do. Dash vin, fender tag matching info, block number is on side of block, tranny identification number is on driver side pan rail. You can easily look these numbers up on the net to verify what is original to that exact car. You need to verify numbers yourself or he needs to show you while you’re there. A tranny won’t have matching numbers. But, that number will tell you what year engines it was used with. Which is good enough.
A non matching parts car isn’t the end of the world either. If those parts. Engine, tranny, heads, etc are in good working condition. You have to decide if that’s ok or not. Based on all factors and decide if his price is fair or not. Don’t nitpick over meaningless stuff that can easily be addressed if his price is accordingly fair. Because someone else will look around these things and buy it.

Most B body projects that are for sale that came with things like Dana's ,4 speeds, and air grabber/ramcharger hoods,are usually missing those parts.

Thanks for all the input guys, always value what other members have to say. Asked the same question before I bought my 1972 Dodge Charger three years ago. This site is a great resource. Talked to the guy a bit more, he said he has a Dana 60 that can go with the car for an extra cost. The top end of the motor was inspected, but they then put it back together with no gaskets????? The reason for selling. have three other projects in paint and don't have time to finish this one. They claim to be a Mopar Garage. Might have to travel the three hours to check it out personally if I want to pursue it any further. Thanks again guys.

A few hours of your time now is better than buyer's remorse later...just sayin your better off going and getting your hands and eyes on it yourself before you part with your hard earned hondos... IMO

I drove 3 hours to purchase a rustfree bulge hood, if the frame rails are spotless, then it would be worth 10k, I like the gold and stripe delete emblems, obviously someone removed suspension to keep the Dana and they replaced it with an 8.75 and maybe plain jane springs, original buckets ? maybe motor no good! I know that the market for 68-69 R/T ragtops is dead in the water, I been watching it forever, nothing sold this year. Sounds like a trap no one wants.
