I’m going to swap out trunk floor in road runner. It’s got some pin holes and typical rust in the recessed grooves

I’m not changing the trunk extension or quarters

Can I put in a one piece floor through trunk. Or do I have to order it in halves??

Thanks all

if you remove the tail light panel, a one piece trunk floor will slide right in......... the tail light panel is connected to the trunk floor anyway

Hi

The car was painted by previous owner and its in great shape. They just didn't do the trunk pan. So Im not removing and painted panels. just need to change out the floor pan. I assume I need to do it in halfs

what year road runner?

they are basically all constructed the same....... on a 70 it is a painted panel, but easilly removed without ruining visible exterior paint, 68/69 even easier

the row of welds across the bottom are actually connected to the trunk pan....... in your case the trunk gutters obviously stay on the car

a 2 piece pan is a cheat; but ok if you're not looking for a factory looking job

Yes thanks I see that.. Not doing that. I will go with two piece

2 piece is the way to go.
Yes I think that is best. Unless you can put a rachet strap around a one piece and curl up sides to fit through the caro area. I know people have said that is doable but Im not sure

2 piece, you can weld the center seam and polish the welds out of the car. Trim it to match the center of the frame rails. It's going to be a bit of mucking around no matter what to do a nice job but it will come out nice.

How is your metal work skills ? How extensive is the rust/rot ? You can section in the rotted area, and finesse the weld if you don't want to disturb the factory seams.

I think I may just cut out lowest pan area becuase its only bad in lower grooved area that way I keep factory welds

I will clean it up and see

Thanks

I just slid in the halves without any manipulation on my '69 Bee IIRC. But, words of wisdom from my own experience is NOT to sit your fat *** on/in the trunk while you are welding it in, lol... :bananadance:

nice

I wasn't there when my metal guy Drue did it, but he put the one piece in my Bee without pulling the tail panel...
