Hi, I am new to the forum and am looking at a 1969 road runner J code. No motor, body is good... no major rust issues but the rear trunk panel needs replacement floors look good. Frame needs a little straightening (from a wheely I suppose) and there was some mods to the engine mounts I assume for headers. Interior is mostly there. I am trying to figure out a fair price to pay for the car. It is a radio delete car bare bones, dog dish. Any thoughts on pricing?
Thanks,
Kurt

welcome aboard. putting a price on something you can't see is hard to do. i come from belleville to. ontario that is

There's a lot of variables & your description doen't tell very much. If you were to post some pictures & give an idea what kind of dough the seller wants, I'm sure that you'll receive the guidance you're looking for.

When you say the frame need straightening are you saying the door won't close or glass won't fit due to body twist from a torquey motor? If that's the case, j code or not, I would run like hell in the other direction.

I realize that that pictures tell a great story but I do not have any :( I figure it is going to run me around $30K for the restoration. I'd like to be in it south of $15K. I had seen some J code cars going in the upper 30's not sure if they were re-bodied or not. So lets change the question. Would a non numbers matching restored J code be worth at least $60K? by restored I mean component correct, vintage block, heads, intake, original doors and quarters, nice paint, new carpet, new interior, wiring ect. Thanks!

Thanks, everything works fine, glass is in place it looks like it popped a wheelie and came down too hard. Drivers side looks great but passenger quarter is up 1/4" where it meets the door. It can be straightened pretty easy in my opinion.

A numbers matching j code car would easily bring 85-100k. With no options at all. A "Date code Correct" motor and tranny in the same car I would think with a super quality resto could bring 55-70k I would think. And non-numbers matching non-date code correct....idk. Maybe 60k maybe as low as 45k depending on the quality of restoration.

That's just my opinion... from what I have seen from auctions and what not.

Yes, a non-matching numbers hemi car is worth at least 60K, but I think 30K on a complete restoration is a very, very low estimate. Is the fender tag, broadcast sheet & rad/trunk number there? Is the rear spring boxes & pinion support there? How bad is the K-frame cut up?

Take a good look at my Hemi Charger threads.......

I bought this thing as a complete car with the body already done, but the rest of the car was in a million pieces in dozens of boxes. With the exception of building the engine, I'm doing everything myself and realistically, I'll have in another 20-23 large by the time I'm done......with no body work.

Vin, fender tag, box springs and pinion are there but no broadcast sheet. K frame looks repairable. I do tend to be optimistic, but I think I can get it done around 30K. I have a line to trade some things I have on a motor, heads, intake and carbs. Everything else is pretty well there.
Thanks a bunch for the insight!
