Considering the bumper boys or AMD reproduction front and rear bumpers opinions out there?

Most of the guy's I have talked to have gotten AMD bumpers. Have not heard of Bumper boy's. Who are they and where do they get theirs. I am waiting for the car to be finished before buying mine that is what every one is telling me to do last.

No complaints on my AMD front bumper for my Bee. Same thickness as the OE and from what I could find flawless. I sealed it on the back so it can't rust through and good for my life time!

Agree on the AMD bumper quality. The chrome on mine was like a mirror. I weighed the original (22lbs) and the AMD (21.5lbs). They are very nice pieces. The only deviation from the originals are the corners on the AMD are welded vs. formed so on the backside you can see the weld.

Mine are holding up great.

Yes sealing the back of the bumper is a good idea. Will make them last a lot longer.

I don't have any personnal experience with bumper boys , but from everyones comments that i have seen.... they are CRAP!
I too need front and rear for a 69 runner, and i'm gonna buy from amd, but i am not in a hurry. There is a company (can't remember the name, darn it!)that always has a sale on amd bumpers after halloween.
Im in california. The very few chrome shops that are here still in business bucking the california regulations, want crazy money for their work. Two new AMD bumpers cost WAY less than getting one original bumper redone! Besides, if i'm not happy with the amd, i can always bite the monetary bullet and spend the $2500 to get mine done.

Yep.. cost me $1400 to have my OE rear bumper straightened and chromed. New AMD front was less than 1/2 that.

Well at my age the AMD bumper's will out live me. Your looking at about a thousand for both bumper's the last time I looked.

Thank you for your feedback on the AMD product

Want to thank everyone who shared. Great group of b body folks. AMD looks to be the best way to go.

Bumpers look good. Thickness is OK? Chrome acceptable? I have heard many bad stories about these, but perhaps they have turned the corner with quality. I will give them a try on the next project. Originals are just a pain to deal with and as mentioned very expensive by the time you get them to look like something.

Thanks for posting.

I have bumper boys on the rear and amd on the front. Appearance between the two is pretty equal. But after bumper boys big price increase if I were doing it now I would use amd on both

I didn't measure thickness, but weighing the rear bumpers, the AMD was 21.5lbs and the oem was 22lbs. Chrome is beautiful. Been in rain and heat for 3 years and they still pop. I got both of mine through Summit so shipping was dirt cheap.

This is great to hear. I've heard quality and fit issues too but at these prices I could barley rechrome my rear for the price of both replacements.

I got my AMD bumpers from Jeff at 521 Restorations in 2012. Fit like a glove, look great. Not concours, but OEM at least. And look as good today as they did out of the box, and at least them they didn't want cores. No personal experience, but there are a llot of horror stories about Bumper Boyz.

I had Tri-City re-plate my original bumpers on my A12. $1,070 for both shipped from Tennessee to Florida in March of last year. Cost me <$100 to ship them up to them. I have a Dart that they re-plated the bumpers on almost 20 years ago. They still look like they were done yesterday. Between my desire to reuse as many of the original parts from my A12 as possible and my experience with Tri-City previously it was a no-brainer for me. I used Bumper Boys several years ago on another project car. Horrible choice. Poor quality plating and the backs of the bumpers got rusty before I even got them bolted on - I had to paint the backsides black just to be able to use them. No personal experience with AMD.
