Good morning. I have a 1969 RoadRunner with bucket seats and a center console. The car is equipped with a 727 manual reverse valve body transmission. I am interested in swapping out the factory shifter with either a Hurst Promatic 2 or a B&M QuickSilver, but DO NOT want to modify the center console. A few questions......

1) Has anyone adapted these types of shifter to a center console?
2) Any special considerations need to be taken into account?
3) Can this even be successfully done?
4) Which is the shifter of preference?

Thanks in advance.

Why do you want to swap it out? Just curious..as nothing looks more out of place than an aftermarket shifter in a Roadrunner

Haven't been a real fan of having to push the shift button in everytime I shift from 1-2-3-2-1 all the time. I do, however, agree with your "aftermarket" comment. But, if I do proceed and the integration doesn't look good, I can easily change it back. I've only had the car for a couple of months. Maybe I'll get more used to how it shifts.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check it out. My current console cover is in excellent condition so I didn't want to cut it up. I was lucky enough to find one online that I can use to modify the installation while without touching the original cover.

I would say that is an opinion......we are all entitled to our opinion.......I have seen a few aftermarket shifters installed in Mopars with and with out the console.......those that took their time made it look like it belonged.....others did a "hack" job and it looked terrible. If your a Mopar "purist" I can see why you would think that....others like my self feel that our car should reflect our own "personality" so we make it "ours"......nothing wrong with doing that....just different......
