I too agree with what you are saying EXCEPT for the bolded area. Regardless of the auction excitement, it ends up BEING the true value of THAT car at THAT time.

Here's where we gotta agree to disagree.

Example 1. Last week I won an ebay auction for a computer. I didn't really need it. I shouldn't have bought it unless it was a "steal". But I got caught up in the need to win. And other people have this obcession much worse.

Example 2. What you said is absolutely true, "it ends up BEING the true value of THAT car at THAT time". The problem there is that that car is already bought and that moment is already gone. If the car had a twin or if the guy immediately decided he no longer wanted it, well the next highest bidder was probably a thousand bucks less. That car, but a NEW that time. Talk about instant depreciation. If there were 2, the guy might not even want the second. Heck he already has one. If the high bid was going back and forth between a couple of guys, well what if one of them didn't make it because his prized quarterhorse was running in the Bellmont or his daughter was getting married? Well without the second really interested bidder, bidding won't go as high.

As with most any other case, authentically genuine RARE cars are always an exception to the rule. And when you've got money to burn, that's just another exception. Me, I'll stick to "what it's really worth" (if there is such a thing).

70mopars

That's a really clean looking Satellite. Enjoy it!

I am enjoying it, when i have a chance to drive it i do, thats why i bought it not for standing in the garage.

If i had the funds i would like a 70' RR or GTX convertible, they just look sooooo goooood
