My 70 charger floor shift car apparently has an e body column shift column. It needs a full rebuild inside, since the ignition, turn signals and all of those are all not working.

I know some places sell repro steering columns…what are the pros and cons to buying reproduction vs buying an oem
and rebuilding.

I see there’s one on eBay for $600 that needs rebuilding…is that fair market?

That is a stiff price but it is also a one year only part.
Me? I always look to a way to do it cheaper. The column shift B body columns were made in much greater numbers. They should be cheaper to find, then the steering column collars from just about any 72-78 4 speed manual trans Dodge truck could be used. Other columns with matching collars are 1970-76 A body with floor shift. Those collars were also available as reproductions too.

Kern dog is right. Shop around a little bit for a cheaper 70 B-body column and swap out the collar (if a column shift column - or grind/fill/paint the hole). The important things are 70-only B-body, and power steering vs manual steering (different center shaft length).
