1970 Coronet 500 to Superbee

Morning Roger,
Thanks for helping Jason contact me. I tried to meet up with him a couple of years back on our way to the Beach Hop.

I went to the Pomona swap meet few years back and was worn out from walking, talking and looking. Carlisle be another level up, bring it on.
No problem.

Jase & Cindy are really nice people...we had a great chat while visiting them in the Mount on the way home from Rotorua a few years back. :)

I've done the Pomona swapmeet once.....I honestly couldn't see the ends of it. Made a mistake of buying a toploader gearbox for my brother early on, and didn't have a cart. Had to lug that thing back to the rental car....along with the 8-3/4" head I bought for my '70 RR.....sure made a mess of that Subaru, and the hotel towels.
You will need a trolley or cart if you are thinking of buying parts with any bulk or weight.

Carlisle sounds like Mopar heaven from what my friends have said. Even better when they bump into another of my friends while admiring cars.
Just ask @HEMI-ITIS ....lol....what a small world we live in.

I am still amazed how Rod and me met:thumbsup:
Me too.....it was one of those "Buy a lottery ticket" moments playing out there.

Al...you have now officially met the best car painter in the world.

I found this old photo of a car that Rod painted many moons ago.....in real life it looked like real headlights switched on....

Been too long.

Had an awesome time at Carlisle. Still haven’t fitted some of the parts I squeezed into my suitcase.

Over last 2 months we have been stripping out the coronet. The heat gun method worked great for removing the underseal.
We used paint stripper to remove paint on the roof and rear quarters.
The body got media blasted yesterday. Cleaned up great and no new damage.
We rolled it 300 yards to the body guys shop. I will call in once a week for progress photos. He might do 2 days each week on it. He will fix up the trunk floor to start with. It has a 2 piece replacement that wasn’t plug welded correctly and the 2 halves are not lined up correctly. He may remove 1 half. Not an easy job.
We still in process of ordering rear quarter skins and trunk extensions.

Yep....damn good looking work so far.

Cheers guys.
When I did my own projects I posted photos every few days. Feels strange not having the coronet in the shed so I take progress photos.
I thought I was going to be doing more on the body, but the body guy is going to be doing the final paint so only trusts himself on the prep.
Still lots of parts to clean, paint and restore.

Hello all.
Progress . Before we sent the body to get media blasted, my buddy Grant and I stripped the quarters. I didn't get any photos. Lucky for me I had my camera when we stripped the hood. It had been done before hence why the chem stripper worked so well. Was still amazing to watch as the paint bubbled up.

The body is at the bodyguy. I popped in yesterday. He has removed the replacement trunk floor due to the poor attempt the previous bodyguy did. Poor welding, alignment and was over top of the old floor in places.
Do it once and do it right.
