1970 Hemi "Tight Fit" clearence issues.

I had the same issue. Thats why no AC on the hemis. We removed the Blower unit and actually did some surgery, moving the blower and squirrel cage inward about 1/4 or 3/8 inches. The real trick was removing and retacking the three mounting brackets on the motor. I will try to post a pic next week. We also removed the valve cover and carefully did a little grinding on that corner, then repainted. Looks great and works.

"Thats why no AC on the hemis." I guess the main reason was just the same as on the Road Runner, to much rev, if you choose AC with the Road Runner you got the ordinary 383 330hp not the 383 335hp High performance, maybe Im wrong.

Tight fit...

Thanks to all for your help and input. With all the advice and intuitive thnking ann suggestions I have possibly come up with soloution or two.
1. STREET REBEL: Yup, it's the Stage V heads on a Hemi Block.
2. Wrench: your suggestion is a very good one, a replacement AC/ heater blower motor from another application...WOW ! Awesome suggestion and fix!
I'll try that or: Someone suggested that I enlarge the 3 holes to give "up to" 1/8" or 1/4" inch more shift in the mount. it would allow me to move it up and outboard more than 1/8". The hole has a thick rubber gasket around it and that would give me the required "play".
3. hunt2elk: I'm running the Schumacher mounts, no flex at all.
4. Photon440: Yup, the taller valve train on the Stage V head requires a taller cover. That essentially is the root cause, the Hansen Stage V heads and covers. IF I were to do this again I will use the "Mothership" MOPAR heads and valve covers.
5. Meep Meep: I'm looking into the option of the replacement motor from a road Grader or the enlarging of the holes and shifting the position "up and outboard"
Again, sorry I have not seen this thread "perpetuating" and growing, I just noticed it now. Thanks to all of you for your observations, advice and help.
I just ordered the "Kickdown cable" and another 4 row "AC/crank pulley" that got damaged by me and my Bud. (too hasty with the jack, car slipped off)

One of the guys over on FABO did something really nice. He's one of the Australian members. He put an RB in a Dart and had similar issue with the valve cover and blower motor. I know it's not a Hemi, but nonetheless, the problem was similar. He took the valve cover and cut and modified it so the blower motor basically fit right over the back end of the cover. It was a VERY nice job. When I say nice....I am talkin SHOW quality. No kinda butchery. Maybe if there's room on the under side so nothing will interfere, you could do something similar. If you go to FABO, look in the Big Block Tech section. Maybe search in there for "blower motor clearance". I think the car was either Plum Crazy...or maybe blue. I cannot remember.

Search thread: Heater fan motor for added room.....

RustyRatRod has been a great help!
His research from our sister site: For A bodies only has led me to the site and I did find the thread titled: Heater fan motor for added room.
So, this guy "Longgone" had the issue with a 440 or RB engine in his A-body.
Longgone found this MOD from: Bigblockdart.com
anybody needing more room on the passenger side, check this MOD out. I am going to do it and post it on: for B bodies only.
Thanks RustyRatRod !
Thanks also to Longgone on: for A bodies only and "Bigblockdart.com"

Yeah that was it. I am glad you found it. You can see that yours will not have to have near the "notch" in it that his did.....even still his came out awesome, didn't it? Some people are just gifted like that.
