Just watched a Wise video on a claimed 8800 original mile Superbird, with "a few touch ups which are fine" ! LOL LCA's were Black and seeing they all came off of Lynch Road I'm thinking maybe they should be cosmoline just like my 69 Bee and others. What say you....

Another in the video was the fender tab sloppily being painted Black. I have seen other original cars, in limelight, where the tab was never painted and I can't see after switching front fenders to "Dodges" that the lads at Clairpointe bothered with this..

Mine was an original Superbird, never restored and were black. That's the way I put them back, only with new bushings.

Thanks Jerry!

Were your front fender "tabs" brushed black or body colour?

Did it still have the original voltage regulator on it and if so do you know the date code??

Thanks...

Original voltage regulator dead, but the
Date Code was 969. Also I painted my fender bolt body color, because I even thought it looked weird. That's easy enough to correct if a future owner so desires.

So you're remembering a September date code. It should be week and 9 though, so Sept would be week 36 to 40. I'm close I guess on the 319 I bought last night.

Is your VIN before or after my 170163?

To add to post #6, I never even thought to black the fender tab.

Here is a picture of my Superbirds original voltage regulator.
It has white lettering the dimple and a date of 489 or 48th week of 1969.
It was in the last batch of cars converted.

Thanks John, that's where I'm going with this. My car was built some 1520 cars on the line before Jerry's and built in November. His car had a Sept voltage regulator which would be 369 to 409. Not sure I'm that far off on this 319 I bought yesterday for mine. Maybe a few weeks, but it's the closest I've ever seen in NOS. I bought an early week 70 a couple years ago for stupid money as it was the only one I'd seen in some time. I've never seen a 69 NOS for sale. I'll PM you later, got a Granddaughter tugging on my leg..

I may be mistaken on voltage regulator date code, as that is what I thought I remembered. I will have to go back and look it up to be sure.

I replaced my original voltage regulator with a 419 date code.

Thanks Jerry, week of October 6th. I may have a line on a "patinaed" "359" thanks to a member here, we'll keep this going I'm sure.

@Mopar John , are your LCA's Black?? Thanks!

My thoughts on the LCAs.. how could they F that up on an 8800 mi car ?? Meaning, it should be fairly obvious if there was original black paint on them.

Pic of the tab on my 70. Looks like it was sprayed black before the bolt went on. Crudely done at that.
