1970 Roadrunner LCA's - Black or Cosmoline

I looked at the lower control arms and there is no evidence of a Cosmoline dip line. They also have no evidence of paint but they are crusty.
 
Pic of the tab on my 70. Looks like it was sprayed black before the bolt went on. Crudely done at that.

did the factory actually get paint on them? I assume they were installed after body paint?
 
They dusted everything with wheel well undercoat far as I'm concerned. Not sure about the after assembly cars

Splash shields went in after paint, as antenna cables and such went in on the line. Splash shields went in, someone brush stroked the tab and then installed an unpainted bolt. Then the wheel wells got undercoated..

We're talking Superbirds here, and many I have talked to with unrestored Superbirds that tab was never painted after swapping front clips. Why I question Dave Wise's video of him going on about how correct an overly runny, black painted tab is factory correct on a Bird that only has 8800 original miles... that's had a LOT of touch ups.
