OK I give up. I am a newbie in search of some clairity here. I thought that a 1970 Roadrunner with the RM21 was a coupe with a fully painted top, while the RM23 was a hadrtop, with a black yinyl top made to look like a convertible when all the windows were rolled down. Then I see this ad: http://www.specialtysales.com/car.php?carnum=3364 (I'm not trying to promote this ad. I just wanted to reference the vinyl top).
So what's the deal? Is the vnyl top just an option like rally wheels? Does it show up on the VIN tag with a specific code? I'm looking for a violet/plumb crazy RR with NO vinyl and I wanted to educate myself as to what to look for. Any infomation would be appreciated. Thanks!

It would be an option that you can see on the fender tag. It would more than likely be a V1W or V1X.

Thanks for the info guys. So, now I know that the RM21 or RM23 can come with or without the Vinyl Top.:toothy12:

On to more reading and learning.....
