I have recently bought a 1970 road runner. I was told and read that my car should have a rally dash in it . It does not have one.Is that possible that someone could of swap them around.Or should my fender tag tell me?

Your VIN should start RM23 for a hardtop or RM21 for a coupe.

It is a RM 23 car i just dont know why it dont have the right dash does the fender tag have a code 2 tell me it came with?

It is my understanding that all RM21 and RM23 cars had a rally dash.

Not sure if all 70 Roadrunner's came with a Rally Gauge cluster........thought it was an "option" (A62).....if you have a A62 code on your Fender tag then your car was ordered with the Rally Gauge package (The Vin tags will not show those options).........If the A62 code is on your Fender Tag then either the Rally gauges were swapped out for the standard gauges or the fender tag was changed......

It's possible that the dash was swapped out, however the framework behind is different for the two dashes as well. Why not pop out your instrument panel and see if anything has been altered out of sight?

I dont have a A62 on my fender tag i think the car would be alot nicer with a rally dash.Is it posible 2 put one in it? thank 4 everones help its been driving me nuts.

my coupe doesnt have A62 on the tag ?? it does have A87 decor package ?? Ive never seen a 70 RR with the old style dash and ive seen a ton of them . Its either very early cars and very rare or something up and funny with your car

X2. Neither of mine have that on the fender tag and both are rallye dash cars.

My original 1970 sales brochure states that GTX and road runner have the rallye instrument as standard, with the only instrument option being the addition of clock and tach.

thats what i read 2 i also thought something was up with the car 2.Untill i d coded the car its a 70 RR blue fire boly 383 hp car made at lynch rd.

Just out of curiosity have you matched the VIN, fender tag and sequence number on the radiator support and trunk weather strip lip? Are the pop rivets in the VIN tag round or hex head?

The 70 Road Runner has to be my favorite car. I've had 3. I have been a die hard Mopar fan for nearly 40 years. I will be the first to admit that I am no expert, although I am far from clueless when it comes to my favorite car. ALL 70 Road Runners & GTX's came with the rally dash. If it does not have the rally dash, then it was a Satellite. OR......... some idiot swapped it out.

1970 I am not sure, but 1971 I can say without question you could have a non rally dash.
In the early 80s I owned a 71 RR with 340, AT on the column , bench seat & non rally dash.
