Getting my plan together...already have a 2009 6.1 from a SRT Challenger, built small block 727, and FAST xfi 2.0.

I'm trying to get power steering...gonna use a Borgeson modern feel steering box...I need a PS pump...I guess I'll use the one street and performance offers.
i have a adapter flex plate and wondering if I still need the bell housing adapter to bolt the 727 up?
 
Use the factory 6.1 pump and you'll be fine. Don't believe the hype that the pump is too much for the box.
 
If I use the stock pump with the Borgeson box what resevoir do u suggest? I'm also gonna need the hoses, how do I go about figuring out what I need?
This powersteering issue has been harder to figure out than anything.
 
Very simple. You can use all the factory stuff, or use an aftermarket reservoir, then plum the lines. Pressure from pump to box, box to reservoir, then back to the pump.
 
My factory stuff is long gone...I don't have a resevoir or hoses. But, this helps greatly. I called Street and Performance and they wanted $500 for a GM pump that makes lower psi...I was shocked and said nevermind!
next question is, should I run the Borgeson box or just get a stock ps steering box? Currently I have manual..with the Borgeson I won't have to swap my steering shaft, I'll just have to trim it some and use a coupler.
 
You can use a gm type 2 pump, hone the factory dodge pulley for a .002-.004 press fit. any local hydraulic shop can make the hoses and then get a reservoir. The Borgeson box will work just fine, or a Firm Feel box also.

I picked up a 2008 6.1L with the NAG1 trans for my '69 Coronet R/T Hardtop.
Not to worry the restoration guys, the car was a clapped out, non-numbers matching, bracket race car when I bought it.
What are you doing for motor mounts, oil pan, oil filter, and exhaust?
With all those issues, the Reilly MotorSports AlterKtion system may be worth the investment? That is sort of the direction I am thinking, but I don't have an extra $4,500 laying around right now.
 
I'm using a Milodon oil pan, TTi mounts, TTi headers and exhaust, oil filter adaptor that is the same trucks use, the alterkation kit is cool but too expensive.
Sorting out this power steering has been the hardest to deal with (for me).
gonna get fuel system kit from Bouchillon that has a in line fuel pump, lines, regulator, and fuel rail connector. Mancini Racing and Bouchillon has everything ull need...street and Performace also but they are expensive.

I was gonna run the factory TR6060 six speed Trans but it was gonna take a lot of cutting of the floor and too much money. I'm just running an old school 727 so it doesn't need computer control. Nag1 is awesome but gonna have to chop the floors to get to work and the drive shaft will need addressing.

So far I have spent more on storing the car than what I paid for it. I got this "project" about 15-years ago for $700. The 6.1L and Nag1 was another $4,000.
The body is pretty straight, but it need an entire trunk floor, extensions and lower quarter panels. The trans tunnel is already hacked when a 4-speed was installed back in the 1970's. The car was originally a 440, 727, A/C, PS car. I traced it back to 1977 when it was bought off a used car lot, and the owner put a 318 4-speed in the car for gas mialage, then it traded owners to a guy bracket racing it, and a manual steering box was installed, all the A/C heater stuff removed, and all the seats replaced. At least it still had the original dash and instrument cluster, but the interior need alot of work.

On your power steering stuff, you can use the teflon PTFE braided hose with an aftermarket reservoir, but the lines are pricey.
I just installd the Billet Specialities Tru-Track system and the PS pump uses a remote reservoir with braided PTFE lines, and I also added a cooler between the PS box and reservoir.
 
What torque converter and stall is good for a stock 6.1 with a 727?
 
Also depends on the gears,,,,,what are they?
 
I thought a spacer was needed to bolt a 727 to the new motors?
 
I've got 3.91 gears.

i have an adapter flex plate that is supposed to offset the torque converter so it will work. The actual 727 will bolt up no prob.

I would tell you that you need to strongly consider the Holley EFI setup over the fast. The FAST setup is kinda dated technology at this point. They holley setup is significantly faster, plugs into all the factory sensors, supports drive by wire....all around just a better system. I have one of the first complete setups out there. I just got the firmware update with all the hemi sensors listed. Its literally plug and play. Its self tuning. It is a really nice setup.
 
Did a test fit today...looks good...just have to shave a bit off the motor mount/K-frame. Also, installed the Borguson steering box and cut the steering shaft to length. Should have the 727, Turbo action converter, and TTI headers next week for final install.
