1971 Dodge Charger radiator ID question

Many of the 440 HP Chargers I have seen in 1971 have the radiator upper hose outlet on the passenger side of the radiator. A few have it on the left (driver's) side. Anyone know why they used 2 different ones? My right side upper outlet is a 959 radiator. Is the 960 radiator used for the left side? Just wondering. Thanks.

Perhaps the reason has to do with cars built with AC vs. non-AC.

Below is a picture from the Mopar part book regarding radiators.

This listing describes radiator width details, perhaps this will help you narrow down possibilities.

Looks like 440 Chargers (Model Code: W) less AC came with a 22'' inch wide core and the A/C cars came 26''.

426 Hemi cars came with a 26'' core.

There is no descriptions given concerning position of upper hose positioning.

My car has a 959 radiator and it is on the passenger side.

059 and 060 are both 26" with the passenger top inlet. The 038 is a 22" with the drivers inlet. If AC or an axle package was ordered it triggered the HD cooling which added the 26" radiator. I have never seen a drivers top inlet on a 71 B or E-body 26". Maybe a C-body rad changed in over the years??
