That's strange. The owner that I purchased the car from was the original owner and he told me that the only thing replaced on the car was the gas tank. Now I'm wondering if the bumper was replaced as well... Thanks again for the info, greatly appreciated.

What was the build date according to the option tag? I would check the metal around the trunk area to see if any metal looks like it has had a previous repair. It could have been something as simple as the rear bumper got replaced due to a small dent and the owner found or had access to a 72 set up? Common things from back then. I know I spent many days in the wrecking yards with my dad. Sometime when he found good parts he bought them and would put the nicer parts on whatever car he had. He was not worried about if they were "year correct". If it fit, and looked better....it got changed!
