I bought this 1971 Super Bee back in October, 2019.

It is an original B5 Blue car.

I have been slowly going at it, collecting parts, restoring some of them, buying NOS and used parts as I go along.

Below are pictures of the car as purchased and it's current state in the body shop as of 10/20/2022.

Previous owner did not get very far with it.

I have the car totally disassembled, down to the shell on rollers at the body shop currently, coming along slow but surely.

Original 383 4 speed car with 3.91 gears, it had a 440 HP installed of which I sold the other day to a FBBO member.

I sold it when a friend of mine let me know about a Hemi that was included when he bought out a local technical training school.

I purchased the 426 Hemi to install in it, currently at the engine shop, soon to be dyno tested.

I sold the chrome valve covers and scored a set of originals with the black krinkle finish.

I will post dyno test results once it has been run and other pictures as the project moves along.

It's going to be a sweet ride when it is done! They look great in B5! The Ramcharger hood and hidden headlight grille are killer on these cars! I got a few 71 Chargers in the works!

Hello,
I promised to post the dyno results, here they are.

Running a bit rich given up some HP and torque.

Did not have enough metering rods to go leaner at the time.

Made: 422HP @ 5700 RPM & Torque 445 lb./ft. @ 3400 RPM

Dynoed it with 1 AFB maybe? Easy 100HP with an intake and camshaft swap, but you can do that later when you feel like jazzing it up. I love them all but a 71 Hemi Charger is my favorite, closely followed by a 71 Hemi Runner.

Hello Runcharger,
It was dynoed with dual quads, more power to be had once i get the A/F up into the 12's/13's.

Did a stock rebuild, my first Mopar/first Hemi so I wanted to be conservative.

Did not have proper selection of metering rods at the time of the dyno pull.

The charge is awesome, the door gills are the difference from the Super Bee.

Here are some current views of my project.

Here are some pics of my 426 Hemi going in the B5 Bee, will start dressing it up this weekend.

It is Hemi casting number with a -M, this block was cast by Mopar Performance with enhancements by Mopar to put some extra material in spots their engineers decided it needed some beefing up from what I have read.

Otherwise same exact block and heads as the originals I have learned.

If anyone has further details about these -M blocks i would love to hear from you.

This engine came out of a automotive technical school to teach students how to operate a dyno, never been installed in a vehicle.

I had the entire block and heads re-machined to ensure no issues would crop up, installed new rods, pushrods, pistons, camshaft, lifters, timing chain and added an original dual point distributor out of a 70 Charger.

I had solid lifters/camshaft installed mistakenly believing the 71 came with solids, learned after it was too late that in 71 Mopar went back to hydraulics.

Not certain why Mother Mopar went to hydraulics, that I am curious to learn more about.

I should have done more research, oh well, so be it at this point, going to run what i brung!!!

Never had Mopar muscle, did have back in the day Dodge Diplomat and Dodge Ram 1500 SS/T.

Have restored Oldsmobile 1972 442 W-30 4 speed, currently working on a 1975 Hurst Olds W-30, I know these cars very well.
