So now I'm looking at another MOPAR that has come down the path of this long road of searching.

So tell me what panels and parts will interchange on a 1972 Charger?

What parts do they reproduce and what parts do they not reproduce?

I'm looking at all the models from just plain jane, ralley, and the SE. I know this car I'm looking at needs wheel housing patched, quarter panel, small patch on both doors and maybe a trunk pan.

This is a Ralley car and it is worth saving. The car does come with a parts car but the only thing from the pics I can see that are good to use would be maybe one quarter panel, both wheel housings and floor pan. I also think the trunk pan maybe be good.

I tell you after having a stroke a few years ago, I not only miss having a MOPAR but I miss all the knowledge I once had on what was what and what would work.

Thanks everyone.

Thank you I will check those out. ABS looks good I wonder if I used them years ago for a 70 Ford Torino Cobra SCJ car. If it is the panels were off a little on each side one to short and one to long. Still good panels just had to fix to make them work.

Thanks for the links and everyone keep the info coming.

AMD.com makes the most repo body parts. Quarters, trunk, ect. B/E&A makes alot of trim, lights ect. I carry quit abit of original metal along with most any other 71/4B parts.
Most parts interchange with 71 Charger and 71/2 Satellite. Front end on 73/4B is different. Some interchange with E-body awell.

AMD has both 1/2 and full OEM seam quarters for 72.

I need to look over at AMD again, the last time I looked they didnt make what I needed for my 70 Coronet R/T that I owned.

So are the 71 quarter panels the same as the 72? I know the side marker lights are different.

If thos would be the same as far as shape go I could take the metal part out for the lights and weld them and make them fit.

I dont think this car is as bad as most I have seen and I have a friend now moving back into the area that is willing to help get panels and stuff on cars.

Thanks for the info I'm still relearning everything after the stroke.

Thank you. This car needs the 1/2 not full panels so thats the good part..I think.

How about wheel housing will they interchange between 71 and 72?

71/72's are identical except for the SE options and dress packages... body wise, they will all interchange.

correction.. 71's have different sidemarker lamps than 72's... that is the only major difference.

Thank you.

Did Rally cars come with hide away headlights? I dont think that was an option on the Rally cars but I could be wrong. If so the car has the SE grill and that is something I will have to find.

If i could find a steal on a bulge hood i would be golden i have 2 stock hoods that i have to piece together to make one good one. Most of the hoods we have found were too expensive, probly go with fiberglass.

have you checked out that one guy in Starke, FL? He has a crapload of mopars and when I drove through in '03 (yeah i know a long time ago)... he had 3-4 bulge hoods.

I think i know who your talking about some mopar friends told us of him but can't remember his name,my son's gonna wait for now we just want to get the body and paint done then we will do the drivetrain,i'm rolling on the body work hopefully we can paint by the end of summer or sooner. Shooting for april 2013 to be done [except interior]an have a running driving car.

A friend got a 74 buldge rally hood no vents in rear for $1300 and keep looking Craigslist you might get lucky

but hidden headlights are BA

So the Rally's never had option for the hide away head lights?

I know it will be something I will have to change later if it wasn't an option on Rally cars. It's also a 340 with a 4spd car.

yep, no hideaways for rallye's from what I have seen... but ya never know with ma mopar.
