1972 Charger What Parts Interchange

yep, no hideaways for rallye's from what I have seen... but ya never know with ma mopar.

Very true I have seen a lot of strange things in the past that made me wonder and it was real so who knows...........

I thought hideaways could be optioned on a Rallye, not positive though.
They do have the R/T tail lights.
They share the outer wheel tub with 72 Charger. Not 73/4 and not Satellite.

Thank you some more good info to know. I was told the tail lights where used on R/Ts and the Rally in 72.

So if I buy full wheel housing will it need mods done to it?

I may have just sold my Vette so if the guy comes with the money tomorrow I may make an offer or wait a few months and go to Carlisle MOPAR show....I am stuck on this Charger :headbang:

r/t and rallye taillights are the same but painted different colors (argent silver in 71, black in 72).. here is a pic to help in identification between 71-74's.

Thank you, so far things have stalled on the trade. We both dont have the funds to ship the cars and I dont have a way to pick up or take mine to him.

I hope I can work something out, I would like to have this one and kind of bad for some reason.

I too am interested in the hideaway headlights info.

I recently bought a 72 Rallye hemi orange. It has the hideaway headlights and the r/t tail lights. Although research leads me to believe that the bucket seats are from a 73-74 charger (buttons). From what i've read the 72's had no buttons. These threads are good to school people like me

The 72 SE I just bought has an interior I believe to be original to the car.
It looks just like the 73/74 SE Brougham Interior except for the sail panels and rear side panels that match with the 72 SE only rear windows.

I've seen 72 Rallye cars with hidden headlights.
Don't know if they came that way, but this is the first time I've ever heard you couldn't get one that way.

There is a fender tag code for the Rallye package Maybe A57, and could even be on 318 cars. Only 4 barrel cars got dual exhaust, so you could have 318 or 400 2 barrel rallye car without the machine gun tips and cut out valance.

If your prospect car is a Lynch Road car, it may or may not have the fender tag rallye code.
L37 is the hide-away lamp code and my Lynch Road 72 400 4 barrel car has it.

The guy in Starke is Jerry Dempsey.
Nice guy, and knowledgeable, but top dollar all the way.

last bulge hood I saw locally was $800.
I've seen a few nationally for more.
Bitch to find clean AND cheap.

VFN has fiberglass for $500, but truck freight will probably push it to 6 and change, then you have finishing work.

I sure hope 72-74 is the next big thing.
I sure have enough of them!

Just purchased a bulge hood from Belvidere , was $900. Was expensive , but what u gonna do, they really need to start reproducing these over there at AMD.

I keep tweeting about they need to make parts for cars that are 67 and back and 71 and up. I also keep bringing up the 73-74 cars and even the 72 cars being a major thing like grills, hood and some panels. I with a lot of car guys and companies lets see what happens in the near future.

72 got some love this past couple of years, last year especially.

Charger and Satellite full OEM seam quarters and lower full length patches.
(this was the deciding factor in my 72 purchase)

Dutchman panel (says Plymouth specific, but don't know why).

and partial patch panels.

GOOD year for 72 cars.

They could also sell a crap load of fenders (9 out of 10 are rusted in the same spots), decklids, roofs (how many have vynil induced rot?), and bulge hoods.

73/74 needs full quarters, fenders, as well.
I think all 71-74 roofs are the same.

At least 73/74 Plymouth got rear 1/2 quarter patches.
73/74 has Tabco full length patches.

73.74 frame rail patch where K frame mounts, and with "fish" plate(s) would also sell.

Yeah I'm really hoping to see more parts out soon from AMD I mean if we can have as many parts for a Charger 68-70 to almost build a full car (I know it takes time) but why not do it for all the years so we can finally save a lot of cars and restore them, mod them and make our side of the car market stand out even more at shows.

I wish they would make fenders for the later Bs as it would help and trunk lids. I would have traded for that 73 Charger if it didnt have so much rot to it that really had no reproduction parts.

This 73 RR I'm looking at that I keep going back to I think if (the guy is going to email me a fair price) I can get for what I think is fair it wont be one that I will restore to factory. I think I will mod it a little and make it more of a hot rod out of it and enjoy the car.

I do have a line on a 71 RR the guy is asking 1700 for it all numbers matching. The rust int he the front window area he is sending pics of it.

I have been talking to him now for about a year, good mopar guy and he is going to have his own hot rod shop (all mopar) very soon and he is self taught. This guy blows my mind in what he does. He does resto mods but man I can't argue with what he is doing and what he is working with.He has saved a lot of cars that we all would have passed on.

I think if not most of his cars come in with what we all would not even look at as a parts car and makes them whole again.

So with all that being said love to see some fenders, trunk lids and hoods being reproduced and firewalls as well.
